We certainly shouldn't have the Royal Family we've currently got. They are only where they are due to an outrageous piece of anti-Catholic legislation.

a family that's never done a day's work in their lives, and have more sleaze, corruption and immoral behaviour than an episode of jeremy kyle. yet the media portray them as a model and respectable family, it's disgusting.

Ok...i'll take the bait.No they dont work as such...not work as you and i do it, but they have a diary which they have to follow...and they dont get to choose when they do what, they cannot say, * it, im cancelling all my boring factory opening engagements for the next year to write a book about Scottish football.......! Would you swap your life for theirs?I know i wouldnt.

Oh i dont pity them at all.....but i still wouldnt swap their life for mine.
Re-your point.....i personally have a lot more sympathy for miners and labourers than i do for nurses and social workers. To be either, you have to make a choice and do further education....so they are what they wanted to be.

a bit like british soldiers have a choice. (but that's for a different thread-sorry).

that must be some life you've got, it's just a shame not everyone else is so lucky.

:icon_mrgreen:Well...i work for a living mate, and i am not wealthy....but i try and enjoy life and i have good friends......i have all mod cons as we all do, and i generally have food on the table that i have chosen, and i have been quite lucky so far with my health.Just an ordinary guy with an ordinary life...which is why i wouldnt swap my life for theirs.Imagine having to pretend to be interested meeting 10000 people a year you have no interest in!!! I would jump out a very high window! They have to fake everything....* that.

On second thoughts after reading this maybe the royal family is beneficiary to modern society.

that's good for you. i was merely highlighting that not everyone is as lucky as you. if you think that's bad then you should maybe have a look at those people living with disabilities, caring for the disabled, the homeless, low income families etc, and perhaps realise that those people might not share your view.

    Yes, i understand.

If i had a choice as to whether a Royal family existed, i would clearly say no.However, getting rid of an existing RF is something altogether different....so no, we shouldnt still have them, but we have and we are stuck with them for the foreseeable future, so to hate them for existing is pointless and a waste of energy.

I think it's an embarrasment that any Royal Family exist, in this day and age.
What is the point of their existence?
If it's ceremonial, or for head of state, any * can do that job!
Tradition...it was tradition to sacrifice virgins once, but the world wised up on that too.

They have kept their "position" and "wealth" through gouging on the public teet for years.
They only achieved these as well, by the exploitation of others, including their own "subjects". Their power and position was achieved and kept through force of arms, slavery, exploitation of foreign lands and people, and supported through education and brainwashing - all for the "glory of the empire" and the fascination with sticking that stupid flag everywhere.

Now the world is "civilised", they sit there like a costly living museum pieces, because no other royals or revolutionaries are allowed to remove them. At least the French had the right idea with theirs.

The whole idea of a ruling class, or blue blood, or that someone is better simply by a birthline is disgusting and belongs in the dark ages.

They add nothing to society, do nothing by their presence.

What have they ever done on the whole, in a substantial way, to improve the lives of their people? * all from Blackall that's what!
    Get rid of 'em. :bbpd:
