All depends on how we would play at home really. Away we've got no chance.

Im fully aware of what the situation is

But can some explain to me Sions case. The only thing i seem to read is "Sion believed that his ban was finished and did not apply to this season" or watever. That is clearly not the case as the UEFA president came out this morning and said the ban was still in place.

So i dont see how they could have a case in this? Little help?

    UEFA or Sion?

If UEFA find Sion guilty – yet as some have suggested – Sion appeal/UEFA bottle it and the proceedings are held up, Celtic won't be able to take their place in the group stages. That means we lose a potential 3-4m.

If that happens, who's responsible for – Sion or UEFA? As one of them will be sued for that loss of income. :icon_mrgreen:

Basically, when FIFA took them to task about a particularly dodgy signing, Sion appealed. So even though FIFA announced an embargo, it didn't kick in until the appeals process finished. Sion argue they were under the impression that the embargo was in place WHILST they were appealing, in which case they would have seen it out by now.

If you ask me, saying it was a 'misunderstanding' is pure baws. This is a multi-million pound business - misunderstanding my hoop!

Cheers. Looking at the group that we'd fall into, i'd almost rather we go through the courts to get the lost finances, rather than suffer the inevitable pumpings.

Sions case is pretty Simple. Fifa have told them that a transfer embagro doesn't end until January. However after the Swiss FA then telling them that the players could not play domestically, Sion took them to court saying it was a breach of civil rights on their new players. The court ruled in their favour. However, Fifa have warned that no football matters can be resolved in court as it's a breach of Fifa rules and Now the Sion chairman wants to show that Football is not above the law and is threatening Fifa and Uefa with court action.

How is it a breach of civil rights when the players shouldn't have been signed in the first place?

FC Sion's Uefa decision on Tuesday.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/26/celtic-europa-league-sion

Its not looking good for Sion, and also considering that the Turkish club got fecked out of the CL. Their fate to be decided on Tuesday. If they are disqualified, does a Swiz team not replace them like the Turkish thing, or we replace them. If we do get into the Group Stages, it is not looking like we'd go any further.

Also Plantini on the SPL. No Scottish team in Europe after August since the 50s.

Sion have hit back by filing complaints in a criminal court against Gianni Infantino and his counterpart in FIFA:

"Christian Constantin is not afraid of anything or anyone. He is ready to fight to assert the rights of FC Sion, called Thursday for the hens from the EuropaLeague, and intends to know. It has announced that it had filed a criminal complaint for stress, there are only a few days, against Jerome Valcke general secretary of FIFA and Gianni Infantino, his counterpart at UEFA.

At the beginning of the war opened, the imbroglio in which is now the FC Sion, which had been banned by FIFA to acquire any player during two periods of transfers, because of case-El Hadary, Egyptian goalkeeper at the time, who had left his club in circumstances deemed illegal by FIFA. Since then, Christian Constantine fought. And transferred to six new players this season against the advice of FIFA obtained a favorable ruling from a civil court of Martigny. What makes since to align them to Sion. And causing the knee-* reaction from FIFA and UEFA, who spoke of severe sanctions, for Sion and even Swiss football in general.

Constantine explained: "This is a complaint of duress, he assures. Because they have no right to threaten the FC Sion, saying that if we keep a civil trial, we risk be excluded. that is a constraint. I am ready for anything. If we fight, I will fight. Because I can not stand injustice and I defend my interests. So I am fighting against a totalitarian regime that wants to impose an injustice. that is why I attack the criminal Messrs. Valcke and Infantino for threats made. "

Expect more thunderstorms over this sulphurous affair.

Development and analysis in our Saturday edition"

Chancers. We will get embarassed if we get through back ad still like us to be in europe. This is a joke though. They are tryin to bang on about human right when they shouldnt have signed the players in the first place so that leaves us with laws/rules that cannot be applied because it breches their right to work. I wonder how many other teams will go down this road.....

If they let sion away with a slap on the wrists then they are setting a president for other clubs to field inillegal players without repose.
    Looking likely they could go
