What are your views on the amount of Pre-Season matches Celtic are playing?Considering that the start of the SPL Season has just started, your playing a lot of games. The main reason there was an early start to the SPL Season was because in Winter,in Scotland,it's really bad and matches have to be cancelled.Playing pre-season matches when you should be playing SPL matches seems quite pointless.

    Everybody elses views on this?:ynwacelti

looks like nobody has any views on this one, think they were all arranged before the SPL got changed about, making it harder to cancel them....

Good to keep the match fitness up, not good in terms of entertainment. I know I posted this already in the Swansea/Celtic thread in here, but this is merely a stroll for the first team players. The youth players who are on the verge of getting a place in the first team are obviously going to be the ones working hardest, but we don't even know how many of them are going to be starting, as Lenny said he's going to put a "strongish team" for the game tonight.

I'd much rather we just got these out of the way and focused on the games that actually matter. Mind you, The Huns have Chelsea this weekend and I hope they get pumped :50:

Need it for the money. Just because the season has started early doesnt mean we stop trying to get the players back up and running

Gives the manager a chance to get fringe and squad players up to speed, rather than throwing them in completely cold. Also allows the namager to have a better look at trialists, rather than taking a gamble on them. I'm of the opinion that squad rotation is not only done to give players a rest, but to keep players on the fringes fit and ready for when they are really needed due to injury and suspension. so for those reasons im glad we are playing all the friendlies that we are.

    One Word ... Money.

The club need to have income coming in all the time especially considering the lack of CL football, etc.

The games do seem excessive but whats that old saying .... Money talks and bullshit walks.

There is a lot more than usual, and we should be concentrating on the league, but it hasn't harmed our results. And it's good to have some matches to watch.

Too many, they say its helping with fatigue but what a lot of s**t. You can see certain players are tired when it comes to a few games a week and it's just going to put added pressure on with pointless injurys etc.

Screw the shady money from friendlys and focus on the target eg SPL

I wouldn't say we're playing too many because we've got the squad to deal with it,it's just a bit of a bummer losing to the likes of Swansea and Stoke because of fielding reserve orientated teams but if it helps decide our strongest team for the coming season so be it.

    When did we play Stoke?
I don't know why at the beginning of the season in the months of August September and October the SPL do not factor in 2-3 extra games on midweek nights whilst the weather is good.
So by the time the 'bad' weather comes instead of having played 16 games you have played 19 games for instance. Will leave more room for movement later in the season to factor in postponments for both the weather and cup runs.

Great idea btw. Only problem i see is for us and the huns (if we''re in Europa league). But right now before it starts why not? Weather is decent and more people go when it's nicer.

I don't think the Swansea game should have went ahead. Not when we are playing a league match this weekend.
