Big Charlie Mulgrew

Mulgrew has put himself in with a shout of being one our main players. He should be one of our main central defenders, along with K.Wilson and Majstorovic.

I don't rate him at left-back but he can do a job in midfield and at CB I think.

Will happily admit I didn't know he had the ability that he does when he signed.

 

Mibbe he was raging that it was only a semi.

"Charlie - FFS move your left peg a bit to the right - oh yeah that's better - yes... naw, don't * boot me wi it!"

 

He is a player with some very good qualities but a difficult one to find a position that fully uses his strengths. One of those awkward players who would be best on the left of three CHs but is not nippy or tricky enough to be a Celtic style flying FB or totally convincing defensively as a CH in a back 4 when the opposition is tougher. I think we are too obsessed with the idea of ball playing CHs and I would prefer a couple of monsters at CH. Mulgrew is like a less tough version of Caldwell who for all the criticism was a notch above Mulgrew IMO.

 

Mulgrew is better than Izzy, he is better than Ledley,I would have him in any of their positions any day

Fair enough ,but who made their defence lose the ball to Samaras in the first place? It was Mulgrew

 

SamarASS is so useless it's * unreal he just falls randomly.

 

Would definately have him next to Kelvin Wilson as our first choice centre back pairing. Charlie Mulgrew's * army!

 

Mulgrew was great 2nd half of last season and has started this season well. Hard to leave him out!

 

he was unluck it was his right peg and it was a good contact, a little bit higher and it was a goal, sammys miss that led to it was worse.

 

Mulgrew's ability seemed to sky-rocket towards the end of the season. I don't know what Lenny's done too him or what he's making him eat, but I want some.

I haven't saw either the Inter or the Wolves game but judging from the comments I've saw about both games on here I would say that the improvements seem to be carrying on. I think he deserves a chance to start at CB with Wilson.

The big man is excellant what a difference in the player he has become now and must start in my opinion keep it up Charlie

 

It's great to see the majority of us are united in the opinion Mulgrew is superb.
It's pretty obvious Lennon likes him and his crossing and shooting is immense for a defender. The thing i worry about is that Lennon will only use him when people are out injured instead of as a first team regular. Playing him in left mid at the end of last season sort of implies he wants him on the park but not necessarily as a defender, even though he was by far and away the best CB we had last year. The question shouldn't be, 'who will be at CB?' but instead 'who will partner Mulgrew at CB this year?'

 

Mulgrews chance, superb save, that castelazzi looks top class. What hit me most, was how he didnt seem at awe at inters talent, sounds unfair but SPL players used to overraw him Got stuck in, sweet left peg, 100% behind the cause, and versatile. Not the old Mulgrew. So proud of him and Wilson (Mark). I thought Kayal and Mulgrew were our two best. Well done!!

 

Ps i know wilson didnt play but i mean their improvement, bit off topic sorry!!

 

Charlie Mulgrew is the best centre half in Scotland without a doubt.His passing is good, His heading is good and his ball control is good. For a freebie he is now becoming one of our best players. Player of the match wins prove that.
