Haha, they are the same person.

I came across your thread on hfboards today, did a double take when I saw the Celtic badge and noticed your name haha. Also the first time I've seen their Badminton playing brother which made me laugh.

Hahah yea I gotta rep the Hoops over in hockeyland. There's actually a couple Celtic fans that frequent the Nucks board. One of the mods has a Larsson avatar. Few Rangers fans too. :38:

The play-offs start tonight for some teams. I hope the Blue Jackets sneak in and the Wild miss out.

I'd like to see the Jackets in, they've suffered so much as a fanbase lately, it would be good for them to get in. That said I'd actually like to see the Wild get in too, Minnesota is a solid hockey state and they're fans have been deprived as well.

What a shame for CBJ. I felt gutted for them after watching their game last night. They showed so much desire and character to fight back in the 3rd period against the Predators and their fans were amazing last night as well. The arena was really rocking! I think they would have been a better addition to the postseason than the Wild will be.

The Sharks lost last night as expected and will now face the Canucks in the play-offs. Should be an interesting series. Two teams with talented forwards and good goaltenders so it has the potential to be close and exciting. The Sharks will have to get tougher on the road though if they want to come through. Their struggles on the road put too much pressure on them to win all their games at home.

Yeah I'll say Canucks take this as well. Sharks defense is too suspect over seven games. It will be a good series to watch though as it always is between the Sharks and Nucks.

Unrelated, this kid is pegged as the next "Great One". He just ripped up the U-18's leading Canada to gold as a sixteen year old. Sixty-six points in a dominant rookie season on the OHL. From these highlights, you can see that he has that perfect mix of size, strength, skill and vision. Hard to believe he's only 15 in some of these clips.

    Why?

We deserve to be in the playoffs, the table never lies! The Xcel Center is nearly always sold out even without being a playoff team. The state of hockey deserves a team in the playoffs......and we will do Chicago in 6!!

I just think the Wild have been really hit and miss this past while. I don't see them doing much damage against the Blackhawks. The Blue Jackets have been playing really well lately and they were playing with a lot of self belief too. On current form I think they'd have been a better team to watch in the post season than the Wild. I'd like to have seen Bobrovsky in the post season too, he's been amazing lately.

I keep saying to myself I'll get into hockey more. I remember watching a few games years ago and really enjoyed them. Any recommendations for a budding NHL fan? Teams, forums, etc?

Well for forums, HF Boards is definitely the best hockey forum out there. It covers everything.

As for teams, it's tough to say. I guess it depends if you would prefer to support an old team with lots of history or a newer expansion team. Also, whether you'd want to support a Canadian club or an American club. The "Original 6" teams all have a great history and are well supported. In Canada, these are the Toronto Maple Leafs (the biggest hockey club in the world) and the Montreal Canadiens (the most championships, by FAR). In the States, it is the Chicago Blackhawks (best team this year), Boston Bruins (popular amongst Irish, rough and tough), New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings. You can't go wrong with supporting any of these clubs and they all have rich history comparable to some European football clubs.

Outside of the Original 6, the biggest clubs are the Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins have the best player in the world, Sidney Crosby, and are pegged to win it all this year according to most people.

Those are probably the most popular hockey clubs, but there's some good ones outside of those as well. Most people that are new-ish to hockey probably just pick their favourite player, jersey or a city that they have some connection to or would like to visit and support that team.

Good luck and wise choice. Hockey is definitely the best North American sport!

both Wild-Blackhawks and Kings-Blues goes to OT! Both 1-1 after three, LA scored their goal with their goalie out and 30 seconds to go!

    gotta love the playoffs!

looking forward to the habs getting underway, had a great regular season, hopefully they can go far this year if not win it!
