you can't have a team full of players who are dazzling, every team needs some players to do the messy stuff and they are equally as, if not more, important than 'flair players'

there has to be a balance.

Ledleys a great player. He quietly keep the team going and when you need someone to turn up, he turns up. Bear in mind it was Ledley who split the 2 rangers centre backs for Sammys first goal at Ibrox, which was the turning point for us last season.

Also he grabbed a few key goals like the cup final against rangers. Those are the kind of players every team needs, especially in the centre of the park. He would be a prime candidate for the armband if it became available at the end of next season.

I agree, Joe Ledley is the new Paul Lambert. He quietly goes about his business and you dont miss him till he is not there, he is integral to the Celtic engine room:50:

    absolute rubbish.
    "Pish" deary me..

Ledley is a very good midfielder Who can do a number of jobs and even plays on the left at times.

He is a very tidy passer of a ball and does a lot of work that goes unnoticed, his timely runs and accurate crosses have helped us greatly.

He took a while to settle and had a good few partners for the first few months which included Ki,Kayal,Juarez and Brown and even had to play LB at times but He has been fantastic since January and his Injury played a big part of us losing the league as him and Kayal are the best CM partnership in the SPL for years,IMO.

Ledley is part of a squad that went within a whisker of a treble so to be honest getting on his back or any other players seems a bit lame as im sure we wouldnt be having the same threads had those games gone the other way

Ledley is to this team what Lennon was to the Seville team. Its all good having a team full of players who play nice football and are easy on the eye, but you need that player who does the dirty work and glues the midfield together. That is Ledley, had a crackin season...and will probably be even better next season now that he's settled.

I don't agree with the OP. Ledley does a lot of the dirty work to keep the midfield ticking. Every team needs players like that and he's done a sterling job.

I Don't get your theory at all mate. A shaky start maybe but IMO turned into a prolific player in the midfield and even rose to the challenge at the back when required.

His passing and work rate is tremendous.
I think you should watch a few games from last season and observe how good Joe actually was for us. :shamrock:

I was excited when we signed ledley and he's not let us down one bit. He wasn't brilliant for the first couple of games for us as he was settling in but he was still good. He's been an excellent signing for us and if it wasnt for his goals against ICT we wouldn't have won the Scottish cup. His workrate and passing range is superb and I feel hes going to get much better. We definetly weren't the same team without him and Kayal in the middle together. Very underrated player, does his job quietly and efficiently.

If he added a few more goals to his game, like he said he wants to, we would have some player on our hands.

What did you expect him to be? Did you watch him on a regular basis?

He wasn't the type of player who is going to make 20 yard runs with the ball or show flashy tricks. He's a plain and simple midfielder who balances thet a midfield well and 95% of the time he picks out a perfect pass. He is very consistent on the field, he may be a ghost during games but he is a very important player in our squad even if we don't see what he does. Alot of people tend to criticize him because he's not a playmaker, but more of a box-to-box midfielder. Great player, great attitude, great commitment and if he stays with Celtic for a good number of years then he will be a Celtic great :50:

I am not a big fan of Ledley however he is no bad, and brings more to the team during games than Brown.

Brilliant player. As has been said he took time to settle in, but the performance he put in at Tannadice, the dougie, dougie game, was when i realised just how good the guy was and he just got better and better from then.

In fact Ledley, Kayal, Brown and Commons are honestly my ideal midfield. If we buy a big name midfielder in this window i still wouldn't change that midfield.
