Someone might at some point but not in the next 10 years.

McNeills will never be beaten, an 18 year old would need to cemembt himself in the team and play for about 18 seasons to beat that and be lucky with injuries.

looking at the other names in that list kind of brings it home how good wee henrik was. i consider myself fortunate to have seen him play in the flesh so many times.

I don't think anyone will even break into that top ten, like you said football has changed alot... and i can never imagine a player staying here for more than 500 games.

Or y'know, someone who has already broke into the first team, like:

    James Forrest!

But anyway, can't imagine McNeill's appearances record will be surpassed. However, someone could break into the top 10.

It's rare to get players playing for a club for more than 10 years these days. When Aiden was about to move he said something about how if he didn't move now, people would be asking when he was going to move. If a player progresses through a clubs youth system they're just expected to move on at some point.

Football has changed, loyality to one club for the vast majority of players is a thing of the past, for one their agents want to keep them all moving as they get three or four commissions from each player.

Don't get me wrong I am not saying the players are wrong, after all they have to look after their families in what is a short career. However it's bad when you see these agents disrupting players and teams simply because they want higher or more frequent commission cuts.

Can't see any modern player breaking into the Celtic top ten. Agents these days are constantly putting pressure on players to leave clubs, even if they are happy and settled with their clubs.

It's very rare for a player to stay at the same club unless they're at the very highest level like Barca and Man U. No loyalty in the game now.:shamrock:

No. A player would have to start his Celtic career young, not have (many) long term injuries, love the club beyond money; unless we get to a level playing field with this or into a football league where we can afford massive salaries.

If James Forrest stays he could rack up a good few games, Sean Maloney has been with use for a good while but from the stats on the internet he has only had 156 appearances

I think in the future a Mark Wilson/Jackie McNamara type player could break into that top 10.

What I mean by that is........we could bring a player through our youth ranks who is good enough to hold down a regular starting place in the Celtic team but who isn't good enough to attract the attention of top English, or foreign, clubs. In that situation the player would probably happily stay at Celtic for their whole career. If a player played for Celtic for 10 years+ they could definitely break into that top 10.

Signed a new 5 year deal in January, so I can't see him going anywhere for a long while. :shamrock:
