I think you're misinterpreting what I'm saying. It doesn't matter where you're from. I prefer to support a team for footballing reasons. I enjoy watching Celtic, even in the dark days of the 90s etc. I don't support them because of some Romantic gesture, that's all. Football is the foremost reason for supporting any club.

Well put us all out of our misery and tell us exactly why you started supporting Celtic?

You seem to have nominated yourself as spokesman for a generation.

 

I am no expert but the general feeling seems to be that the old stuff is more acceptable because its just long ago enough now to be history rather than politics. I think a political phase becomes history when very few people personally involved or affected (on any side) are still alive.

 

Well im saying I didnt start supporting Celtic because they played some amazing football because we were utter sh*te however I started to support Celtic because my mums side of the famiy supported Celtic

Kilmarnock fans once again didn't do themselves proud at Parkhead with some of the songs they were singing.

Yeh I began supporting Celtic because of my family, they're all Celtic supporters and that's what I became as well!

 

Perhaps this thread should be changed to Do you sing political songs on the bus to games?

Anyway, my dad took me to my first Celtic game in the early 90s and been a fan since. Thats how my love for Celtic came about. I love the Celtic community, it is truly unique, not matched anywhere in the world and it shows.

 

We have a clear choice here.

1) An atmosphere at the games and some fun with songs within reason

2) Going to watch Celtic in a morgue like atmosphere and gettng dogs abuse from visiting fans who by the way never get thrown out for what our own fans tend to

Not ashamed no. But I think it would do Celtic a lot of good if songs about the IRA ended. It doesn't go down well and even as a Celtic fan you understand some people resenting it. I think it would also lift us up above the FOD in the morality stakes. The club doesn't want it and it's only IRA songs I want to drop not songs which are about the Irish heritage of the club.
