dont know if any of you have read this yet, im assuming some of you have because it's been posted extensively amongst celtic-related twitter sites but anyway, its not quite as topical as it was when it was written 2weeks ago but I wrote an article about Neil Lennon highlighting all that he has been through, a good read for those unaware of the treatment dished out to him (written for non-Celtic fans essentially)

check it out. im new by the way...a Swansea/Celtic fan from Wales. hi. sorry in advance if links arnt allowed to be put here but its not spam, its celtic-related.

feedback is what im after as well. Hail Hail

cheers mate, ive become so emotionally involved in this Neil Lennon issue over the last few months its taken me by surprise. Been a Celtic fan from afar for a while, kind of goes with the territory when being a left wing Nationalist but Lennon has always been merely a cult hero as a player. but no...as a man...he's becoming my inspiration even, just made of absolute steel. * i even downloaded Something so Strong to listen to in the car, the blog just came out as a stream of consciousness really.

As for the Swans...monday is taking too long to come...I cant wait...in a big disagreement with a section of Swans fans at the moment as im taking a Glyndwr flag (the historic flag of a free wales and the welsh royal flag from 1282) and apparently this is not acceptable despite the plethora of Union Jacks that no doubt will be present. I will be flying it proudly though.

I'd love to go up, just imagine the protests and anti-welsh bigotry from an alreadty anti-welsh London press.. brilliant! Bring it on!

Pretty good article mate, one thing bothers me though, you have (or seem to have done) fallen into the trap that Neil Lennon's persona has contributed to the treatment he has received. Whilst I can appreciate that it's not your personal view that this makes (the situation) acceptable, I feel there is no need to even mention his character or actions. The sad fact is that an Irish catholic, who then went on to play for, captain and manage Celtic, the bigoted Orcs who perceive that they have an attachment to Northern Irish Loyalism, cannot accept a wee, jumped up, ginger 'bead-rattler' who wont just sit quietly at the back.
The most shocking fact, although not to Celtic fans, is that this situation isn't confined to the West of Scotland, maybe it's not shocking but "there's none so blind as those that will not see"
Sorry about the rambling reply but you did ask for feedback :celt_2:

I don't mean to be confrontational but without knowing the history of that flag it wouldn't look out of place at Nuremberg.

    Found this about it...

"The White Eagle of Snowdonia flag was used by units of the Free Wales Army in the 1960's in Wales, as well as other republican groups into the 1990's.
Throughout the '60's and '70's it was widespread across Wales in the form of slogans painted on walls etc, and can still be seen in places."

I am not getting into the flags at games debate again. However, games aside that is one powerful, slighly menacing looking flag. Its well cool. The Welsh really do good flags. You also have the best national anthem in the British Isles.

Scotland has two flags but I only really like the saltire/St.Andrew's cross. In terms of Irish flags I know the symbolism of the tricolour but its nowhere near as nice or historic as the gold harp on a green background, the old flag of Ireland before the 20th century. IMO that should have been retained. If you have an old flag going back to the Medieval period then you should keep it.

Cheers for the feedback, Although i have many catholic irish friends, I am a complete outsider to scotland and the catholic treatment there so its always interesting to hear direct from the horses mouth so to speak, no amount of reading can compare to the voice of the people involved so to speak.

as for the flags, that flag posted is the flag of the Free Wales Army, a small group of volunteers from my area actually who in the 1960's decided to "take up arms to free wales"...they werent a serious threat as they didnt wish to cause actual harm to people, concentrating instead on tax offices and water pipes etc. they were crushed before they really took off as the government couldnt have them causing disruption to the 1969 Prince of Wales investiture where they apparently had plans for bombs. ive actually done a blog onthem as well so anyone interested in politics may fancy a read, especially as the FWA arny even well know within Wales by anyone under the age of 40 let alone outside...link ... http://nathenamin.com/2010/03/27/the-free-wales-army-and-their-campaign/

This is the flag of Glyndwr.

Wales's Royal Family were from the House of Dinefwr and House of Aberffraw and their flag and thus the flag of an independent Wales was this very flag. after being killed and conquered by the Edward I Longshanks * (yes, he of Braveheart fame and whom most of you scots alread know) Owain Glyndwr raised in rebellion and came within a whisker of freeing Wales again in 1404. that was the flag he raised and as such real patriotic Welshmen and not the part-time Rugby Welsh fly that flag with pride, its becoming more prevelant but is still very much rare.

the Current Welsh dragon and the flag everyone knows of Wales was only made inthe 1950's

Another fine article, my one critisism is that it's too short.

Thanks though, I enjoyed reading it. I'd never heard of them till now.

ha yeh i know! i just reread it for the firsttime since i wrote it and couldnt believe how short it was. Im guessing as im getting more prolific with my blogging the articles are getting longer and more detailed, I will have to re-do the article, flesh it out a bit.

Off topic but is your avatar anything to do with the German left wing terrorist organisation Rote Armee Fraktion?
