This is the condescending attitude that I was trying to point out. Who are you to say who is and who isn't a real fan of a club?

If you don't want the team you 'support' to win every game they play in then you are not a real fan. I don't see how that can be reasonably argued with?

Yeh i find that close minded. Not everyone is born in glasgow or into a celtic family. I am most certainly not. It can still appeal to you. To me it does and that's that. And if people here like to see man utd play and think of themselves as a man utd supporter, who is to say that they are wrong. Maybe you wont make friends amongst the Celtic fanatics but you cant be liked by everyone.

I don't think that is the basis of what constitutes 'a real fan'. If you follow a club, you're a fan/supporter.

I do understand where you're coming from regarding teams that meet in European competition, but the majority of people who support two teams have a 1st club and a 2nd club so go for the first if they meet. It's not as black and white as they want their other club to lose as we are complex beings full of emotions and it might pain us to have to see one club we like beat another, but it's just a fact of supporting two clubs that may meet in competition.

I'm worried that I'm not wording this very well but for me it comes down to, thousands, perhaps millions, of people around the world follow/support more than one team. I agree that most of your time and effort will go into your 'first' club but it doesn't stop you being a fan of whichever other club you follow.

I support Celtic follow Blackpool and English football (excluding man city and Chelsea).
Supporting and following are two different things.

I only support Celtic & thats it.

When i was a kid & we were mince i admit i dabbled with trying to support an English team on the side because i was getting seduced by the glitz, glamour & bullshit of SKY Sports.. bought a man utd away top cos it was green & gold..bought an arsenal top... but nah.. i felt dirty.. hardly wore them.

so heres a message to all those who support 2 teams-
    STOP CHEATING ON THE CELTIC!!!!

I think thats a little unfair on the likes of me whose never been able to go to a Celtic match due to financial constraints. But I do have Sky Sports in the house and I'm paying it myself just to watch Celtic I think thats supporting my team. I am going to the first Celtic v Huns game at Parkhead next year though :icon_mrgreen:21st birthday.

I like a lot of teams like Manu, Liverpool(yes both :56:), Barcelona, Valencia, Juventus, Wolves, Cardiff City, PSV Eindhoven because they're good to watch or have had been entertaining in a season like Eindhovens run to the Semi's of the CL but I don't lose sleep if they lose. Celtic are the only team I love and given the choice of Real v Barca or Celtic v Arbroath I'd choose the latter :celt_2::shamrock::celt_2:

I think the problem here is our differing definitions of the word 'fan', or 'supporter'. I think that you can only support one team, and everything else is just admiration, the problem I have is people who on Saturday night for example will be jumping around their living rooms if Man United (or in some cases Barcelona) score, coming on here saying 'we' and 'us' etc. These people are Celtic supporting fanboy gloryhunters, if you don't agree then I am sorry, but that is how I feel.

As for admiration, there is nothing wrong with that, and it is a completely different thing. I would for example prefer to see Barcelona beat United on Saturday, because I like the way they play, I like a few of their players and I like the club ethos. However I will not be losing any sleep if they lose, and would rather see United win a good game than Barca win a poor one (if that makes sense). This is the crucial difference, and this is where the arguement comes in, using Saturday again as the example, me wanting Barcelona to win does not make me a Barcelona fan, it just makes me a person with an opinion on a game. I was glad Barca won La Liga, and the same thing applies. It is the people that take this admiration and try to make it out like they are proper fans, these are the people who get on my nerves.

Supporting a team means being 100% behind them at all times, and for me this is not something that is debatable. You can't be 100% behind two teams, it is mathematically impossible.

Some may disagree, but that is the nature and lifeblood of debate.

Yes. I support DC United from the MLS they are my local team I go to 10-15 matches a season. Celtic is my second team. As we all know Americans have a hard time finding a foreign club. Also most American fans hate the MLS I say support your local club before European team. At school I play soccer with many that support 2 teams and its sick because they support Man U and Barca that right there is just wrong.

    No you can't.

You can support one team, might be a bit of a fan for another but you can't truly support two teams.

I like Barcelona, follow there matches. Soon as they play Celtic that's it, all feeling for them out the window. I'm a Celtic supporter and that is that at the end of the day, no other team can come close to giving me the ups and downs of Celtic.

I am not a "Glory Hunter" I have never been able to go to see a Celtic match for obvious reasons. Last year I tried to go to one of their games during the North American Tour, but where I was at the time I couldn't make it to any of the games.

I see what your saying but whats is your opinion for American fans. Do you think an MLS club and a European Club is ok or what do you think?

Only other club is St Pauli as to me they are like a sister club. Certainly not a club you would pick as a glory hunter.

If Celtic meet that MLS club who do you want to win? That's who you truly support.

The local teams that you follow and like to see do well or do you get the same feeling from them as you do Celtic etc?

    * thats a hard question. I would hope for a draw honestly. I remember back in 06 DC played the Bhoys and beat them. At that time I did not care for the sport of soccer so it didnt do much for me. BTW do you know the MLS is not that much of a quality league, but its starting to show its power.
