First of all I wanted to say that I've rarely been more proud to be a Celtic fan!!! Forget the 'OF' - we are not the same!

Debate obviously rages on about where the title slipped away and naturally we think to the most recent examples...pen miss at Ibrox and then the calamity in Inverness. For me however, it was in Nov/Dec.

Here we dropped 6 points within a month which should have been in the bag. Fallout from Dougie Gate still raging on and Kayal out injured.

In the end there was also the risk of a young, new sqaud of players taking it over the line which is the only area that Ranger enjoyed an advantage. This will hopefully be the first time in three years that we can field a team still retaining it's core element with a few select improvements.

I genuinely believe this combined with inevitable surgery across the city will deliver us comfortable success in 11/12.

    Hail Hail!

Sammy missing that Pen was the turning point, had he tucked that away we wouldn't have as much pressure on us to keep winning and would have had all the confidence and would have romped the league.

I agree with Markeyboy, for me Samaras missing the penalty caused us the league. If we had won at Ibrox their bubble would have burst, he handed a great boost by failing to score.

But if we won those "easy" home games then the game against them wouldn't have mattered...

The league was lost with inexperience which you can only gain by losing those matches.

Looking forward to next season.. as long as there are no big departures i expect a good season :icon_mrgreen:

Those 3 draws were ridiculous. Against Dundee United and Inverness we defended pathetically. If we could have held out for a few more minutes in both games we would have been Champions.

I'd definitely agree. Especially the games with Inverness and Dundee Utd. The fact that we conceded a two goal lead and a last minute goal in these games is frustrating considering that's 4 extra points that have been thrown away, and it was so easily avoidable.

Got to win the home games. Thought we had gifted the manks the league then and we were good enough to claw it back starting with pumping them at ibrox. All if and buts but if we did win those games the league would hav ebeen done weeks ago with us parying but it didn't happen.

But the league is done, and I'd rather not dwell on it. Let's look forward and hope to * that Lennon is offered a new deal sonner rather than later so we can prepare for our campaign next season.

Can't say the league was lost way back then because it was in our hands after the final huns game.. The problem was we knew we had the much tougher run in so I call it more a case of not taking the bull by the horns , when we should have been trying to put the title firmly in our grasp.. Trying to play it safe against the huns... If Sammy scores his penalty we get a win that we wouldn't have deserved because we never played with intent to win untill 60 minutes.. For me the problem was thinking that drawing that game favoured us much more than them.. If we felt we were a better team than them then we should have taken it to them from the whistle and I believe we'd have left ibrox with us having the comfort of been afforded at least 2 slip-ups to let them back in.. That was the day we never lost it , because it was still in our hands , but it was the day we never grasped the opportunity.. Inverness is obviously where we lost it..

If we drew with Inverness we would have won the league.

So that 1 goal of a difference is where the league was lost, one crazy spell of about 20 minutes was the difference between winning and losing.

The league was lost in inverness simple as that,

we drew other games aye, but we got ourselves in the position where these dropped points meant * all, and then we threw it away in inverness.

mistakes were made, but we'll learn and we'll come back even stronger next season

It was still in our hands when we played Caley so that's where we lost it. Or maybe it was one bad decision against Hamilton in January when their offside goal was allowed.

November- December was bad and we all dreaded the huns game on the 2nd of January which turned out to be our turning point in the season ,but i believe that month cost Celtic dearly.

Inverness 3-2 Celtic is where it was lost. We may have drawn they 3 games at home etc, but we got away with them as we went to Inverness with the title in our own hands and flung it away.

have to agree, doesnt matter what other points where dropped in the season, the inverness game was the one that blew it, our team has got to know each other now and with a few quality signings we will stroll(yes i'm that confident) next season

I just noticed we got more points this season than in any of the 3 in a row seasons under Strachan.

We also got more points now than the huns during the last two seasons (08-09 and 09-10).

The last time we got 92 points was under MON's last season in 04-05 when the huns got 93 points as well...

So did we lose the league or did the huns just win it? In each case, it proves that Lennon did a great job this season.
