For all the boys and girls that want to sing the pro I.r.a songs why not do it on the bus or the pub before or the pub after the game..its only 90 minutes that you don't have to sing them.my parents are both from Ireland so I understand the songs and why they're sung but please not at the game because it gives them the excuse to say were as bad as rangers.that's why I don't want to hear them sung,I * hate being compared to they bigoted *.

Highly respect your opinion there pal!

    But I disagree.

What I persieve you are implying there is that...if we stop our singing, they wil stop theirs? Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Like yursell I was brought up in the Jungle, pissy toilets and all.

    Where were the bombs then?

I maintain, its not the songs.

Its the violent sectariam bassa's that post them thats the problem.

I am not saying its right or wrong but i am sick of the apologist celtic fans who are so scared what the media and other people think about us. We are under attack right now from all angles and the media have had a huge part to play in this. * the media and what they think or write.

Really? I guess you think this is funny, but if you lived over here you'd realize that very few Americans are of American heritage--save the Natives.

My grandparents on one side are McDaniels (MacDonalds) from the isles chased over here during the clearances. My other side are Kellys from Dublin only a couple generations removed. I've every right to claim as much Irish or Scottish heritage as most others on these boards, but I know I'm not really either. I was raised in Texas and have little of the old ways effecting my life.

If you can't understand how all that works, and that what I said was a play on words, I'll be happy to keep talking to you. And since you can't respond to the content of what I had to say, I'll assume you're either too lazy or incompetent to make a serious reply.

Bollox, you're as much a part of Celtic as anyone else here. Not because of your ancestry, but just because you are here.

Do you not mind about BNP rallies and Orange Walks? How about Islamic fundamentalists putting a fatwa on critical authors?

Obviously i wouldn't join in. Should i or any other decent minded Celtic have to put up with listening to that though just because some people think they have the right to do what they like and say what they like? That would be a bit like me heading to Celtic park and singing * the pope because i'm atheist and not a fan of religion. Would that be acceptable? Could i get away with saying "don't join in then" ?.....of course not.

Do not like getting a hsitory lesson from morons who change the words of a rod stewart song 'we are sailing' to sing FTQ and the UDA, IRA all the way...' or I, I, IRA, or Oh Ah up the Ra! Not exactly a history lesson for me and certainly not lyrically as tender or pertinent as the Fields of Athenry.

IRA chants are so 1970. Thought Celtic fans had grown up and got rid of this repertoire of pure utter bile songs that I find embarrassing and offensive.

Time to stand up to the morons who sing these songs and tell them to shut up. Makes us exactly the same as our rivals.

Was considering posting something to this effect (although I think 'fully' was posting with tongue firmly in cheek). Many Americans consider their heritage as highly important - look at all the 'Irish' bars to be found in NYC, Boston and elsewhere.

What exactly hurts our name? Our history?

We don't sing songs about killing Protestants, we don't sing songs about killing anyone.

    We sing songs of freedom.

If you don't like it then.....

    Syria
    Israel
    Zimbabwae
    others...

    you have a choice.

I think that the large majority of Celtic supporters would like to see an end to these songs. There are plenty other songs to sing, football songs. We are proud of the clubs roots but we the support and the club need to move on, to try an evolve from these stupid morbid times. We cant take the moral high ground on Rangers when our away support constantly let us down by chanting pro-ira songs. It makes us look daft and thick. Those songs need to stop. The majority want the songs to stop. The minority want to continue singing the songs. We are a great club, so lets cut them out. Scotty

Well one of my "highlights" of the season was last night's atmosphere and that included IRA songs from start to finish.

So it's a we won't stop singing our songs if you don't stop singing yours?? Uefa and the SFA might turn their attentions to us if we carry on and to be honest I'm surprised rangers haven't made more of an issue about us. Like I said before personally I don't care what anyone sings as it doesn't offend me but be aware we could get punished for it and we can't complain.

These songs are sung as an act of defiance and that is the reason they were so prominent last night. Our manager and club are under constant attack and last night was a vocal act of defiance as its about all some fans feel they can do. Should we start sending bullets and bombs?(obviously not-incase anyone thought i was suggesting this)
