Should Mulgrew be dropped?

He will have learnt from this experience. Lets remember guys this team is barely a season old, I am excited to see its development next season and if we can keep them together and add some extra "players" like emilio and kayal. we will have some team.

I dont care what people say. Mugrew and Maj are mid table SPL standard players, one because he is a rookie and the other because he is the slowest thing on two legs I have ever seen. People slag Mick and Caldwell but (and I dont care what anyone says) they are far better players than the present pair. What is telling is that although they had bad periods, they had to hold it together in a two wee winger system that WGS used. Most of the time they did OK despite the strains that system puts on the CHs. The current pairing simply cant function in that system and seem to need three MFs in front of them who are tough defensively and give them tons of protection. If either of them is a first choice next year then ghod help us. Punt Maj and keep Mulgrew as occasional backup.

However, we probably cant drop them this season due to lack of alternatives.

 

I feel sorry for Mulgrew - brought here on a free transfer for cover and he`s been asked to be the defensive partnership with the bombscare that is Majstorovic.

Lennon should have addressed this issue as a priority - whoever our scout is he couldnt pick his nose and a defender if he tried. It was awful with Caldwell & McManus.Now were just a game away from a crisis. The midfield should not be above the blame game here as well what about our "posted missing in action" captain. He`s the biggest IMPOSTER ever to wear the hoops.

 

if your going by last nights performance then the whole team should be dropped, its unfair to single out one player. yes our defence was terrible and made some schoolboy mistakes, but the result reflects the performance of the team

 

i duno, remember rogne during the last old firm game he started? he looked terrified and honestly didnt know what to do

 

mulgrew was no worse than the other 10 outfield players..

 

I think so, Maj and Rogne were the best CB's we had this season when they both looked extremely comfortable on the ball. Bring back Rogne he deserves a second chance.

 

In an ideal world Mulgrew wouldnt be anywhere near a first team place, unfortunately we dont anyone who is significantly better in the first team squad. It has to be Lennons No 1 priority to get a class central defense in place for next season or it will be a sorry case of de ja vu .

No he wasn't the worst player last night, he wasn't the worst defender even, we only have one alternative CH in Rogne who has also had some poor games.

you talk about big maj and say he is this and that and about our record this season but we have won * all yet or mabe just the cup if we are lucky enough

not at the end of there time at celtic big mick and caldwell where not playing well but them 2 helped us to 3 in a row alot more than what we have at the min i think people forget that

 

I never wanted him there in the first place, he has been fine as an emergency fill in

 

Charlie has done a decent job in an unfamiliar role.Yes he made costly mistakes last night but he was no worse than the rest of the bottlers.Every one of those players should hang their heads in shame.People go on about us not bringing in a central defender in January,but we have to remember the quality of available players in the "January sales ".Whats the point in bringing in inferior players to the ones we already have.Theres not too many really good players on the market at this time.We do need a quality CH though.

 

Celtic haven't got a decent centre half and we haven't had one for years probably since MON days of Balde, Mjallby and Valgaeren.
I think it should be our main priority in the summer to get two qaulity centre halves who can do job.
As for Mulgrew being dropped I think both him and Dan should be dropped they're both as bad as each other and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with the dreadful performances they put on show the other night.

 

The whole team played * we played like the huns football wise just lumping the ball up the park and it coming straight back to us with interest.Alot of players were posted missing that game from midfield to the strikers and this resulted in the pressure that was put on our back four which they havent been used to all season.Everyone played absolutely * and the fingers cant just be pointed at the centre backs. YWNA
