In terms of playing attractive football i'd say the current team is easier on the eye but they haven't won the league or played in the CL group stages so it's kinda difficult to make comparisons at this stage.

The current team looks good because the overall standard in the league has dropped. They have a long long way to go before they can claim to be better than a side that won 3IAR and last 16 UCL twice, a purple patch in one season doesnt cut it.

Some of our players now would make it in Strachans team (Kayal over Gravesen, Broony/Ledley over Jarosik) but Strachans teams alot better even looking on paper there. That mixed with the fact (as already stated) we haven't won anything to really make it a competition :50:

To make it fair, it would have to be head to head with the team of Strachan's first season. Here's a rough idea of who may have been picked at this time in WGS first season

    The team may have had

Boruc, Telfer, Balde, McManus, Camara, Nakamura, Petrov, Lennon, McGeady, Maloney, Hartson

Maybe Keane or Zurawski would have played some games, maybe Pearson others

Hartson would bully any of our current CB's but Camara would be there for the taking if he was isolated

My answer is similar to others, not willing to judge the team yet - give them a few more seasons and lets see if they can win us the league or take us to Europe again.

Exactly what other people have been saying. This current team has a lot of potential but that's all it is right now. Ask me when we win the Champions League and my answer might be different.

The current team looks good because it is good. It's young, dynamic and refreshing to see a Celtic side that has guys like; Emilio, Kayal, Hooper and Ledley.

The standard of the league has dropped but not by much, in fact there's probably an argument that the loss of television revenue has stopped cheap foreign imports and allowed Scottish talent to shine which can be seen at Hibs, Hamilton, Kilmarnock and a good few others who have all sold players to the Premiership.

In terms of success it is without question Strachan's side was better but in terms of collective ability my own opinion is this current side is better. Put it this way, Strachan's side wasn't capable of putting on the performance we did in the 3 nil game at Parkhead against the huns.

Too early to tell. I * hated the football we played under Strachan. Absolutely woeful stuff at times. He did win trophies however, and ultimately thats what Neil will be judged on. I pray that he is successful in this respect.

Many good players at the smaller clubs have been sold to service debts and have not been replaced. The TV deal collapse may be more beneficial to Scottish talent now getting a chance but the overall standard of the league has definitely dropped.

Rangers back in the Strachan era was a much stronger squad and first 11, there is no doubting that either.

This team looks good but they have yet to prove themselves in my book and definitely nowhere near Strachans team in terms of getting results when the chips are down, e.g. recent league cup final, never mind talking about doing the business season after season.

I'll compare them when there is actually something to compare.

Yes. We are, play much better football, and we might not get the results sometimes that strachans side did, although lennon's side that beat rang**s is the best OF performance i've seen since the days of MON. They are very good.

better to watch just now. But that is nothing to judge against a fairly successful 4-year spell. is it really?

No not 'yet'. Lacking at back and a quality big target man (no disrepect to any of our front two)

if wgs had been a former player of ours his team of 3inar would be lauded as one of our greatest ever
