This little break in play is going to do him the world of good. Sure he'll be back on form in no time.

A quick break and he'll be back with Stokesy scoring goals.

Good news as far as I am concerned. Hooper clearly is not fully fit judging on the last 2 games. So now he gets a break from games and hopefully will be back to 100% when we play Inverness on April 2.

Hoops was fine before the Rangers game - his minor injury surfaced after he attempted to cross the ball and shin-shanked the ball into row Z at the end of the game. In fact, i suspect that this injury isn't as bad as Hoops is making out - he knows there are better players who will be picked in front of him for England duty and so he has suddenly 'developed' this phantom injury to get him out of the embarassment of not being selected. (He also this 'injury' will also excuse his pitiful performance against gers the weekend).

While Sammy is going to play in the Euro Qualifiers with his country this weekend, Hoops and Stokesy are not even being selected for the benches of their national teams. That alone says more about the relative strengths of the three strikers...so let's give Sammy a little more respect when looking at our front line options.

Not sure about that.. There was definately talk he was ineligible but then Thommo recently said Hooper turned up for training with a saltire sown into the back of his boots so "watch this space".. I think he should ignore u-21 stuff anyway..

Any chance Sammy's Da was Scottish? I know the Scottish Guards were defending Crete around the time German Paratroops launched 'Operation Merkur' in WW2....too bad Sammy already opted to play for his ma's side Greece. Would've loved him to play for us..

They've not found his grandad's birth certificate yet so they don't know.

A big shame for the fella, personally. The u21s played well, too. They could use a striker like Carroll or Hooper to lead the line, though. The likes of Sturridge, Sinclair and Welbeck do their best work outside of the penalty area.

Did he sow a Saltire onto his boots? ... We should steal him. :fear:

"GARY HOOPER was left gutted last night as MailSport revealed his dream of playing for Scotland could be DEAD.

The Celtic striker was excited at the prospect of pulling on a dark blue shirt under Craig Levein, who hoped the Englishman would be eligible through his Scottish roots.
Hooper's great-grandparents were Scots and the 23-year-old believed his grandfather William - despite being born in a Berwick hospital - would also be regarded as Scottish because he lived here.

But MailSport has obtained a copy of the English Births Index which confirms William Hooper was born in England, in 1932.
Dual registration in Scotland couldn't be found - which means Hooper CAN'T play for us.

However, the player's dad Gary has vowed to continue searching for further proof in a desperate bid to see his son represent Scotland. A source close to the Celtic hitman said: "Playing for Scotland appealed to Gary so if it's definitely the case that he's ineligible he will be gutted.

"Gary Snr believes his dad was raised as a Scot and is still trying to find proof. But if it's not possible Gary Jnr will just focus on doing well for Celtic and maybe one day England will look at him."

Scotland boss Levein is believed to be equally downbeat as he was keen to hand Hooper a Nations Cup call-up in May."
