It has been put to bed. It's just taking the rest of you plebs an eternity to catch-up. Meanwhile, people suffer...

I think you'll fine non believers don't pray in the first place!:

Well, the Jews didn't deny his existence. Imagine the millions of prayers that get said as people face slaughter - all unanswered:bbpd:

I think you'll find there are millions of non-believers who pray but they only do it when they want a 'wee favour' from *. :bbpd:

There's nothing that proves the tooth fairy doesn't exist either. Take it you're a firm believer in that too?

Bertrand Russel covers it better than I could

Er, no - since that would imply they DO believe!

No. It would imply that they want something and they feel that praying to * is their last chance of getting it.

I see that less than half in the poll actually believe, which i think is a great boost to the anti-religion camp.I am pretty sure if the same poll was done 100 years ago, the figure would be pretty close to 100%.There is hope....as faith diminishes.

They would only do that if they thought there was a real chance * existed. which an atheist would not. For someone who is actually an atheist it would be just as sensible to pray to santa claus

No they would do it out of desperation. I know people who have no belief in * whatsoever but if a family member was to fall seriously ill they will say things like 'i said a prayer last night that <insert name here> would get better'. There are millions of people who do this.

I agree with you that it's pointless if you don't believe in * but they still do it.

At least your mind is not totally closed to the possibility of *'s existence Paddy. That's a start. :50:

I don't really know what to think tbh, i don't condemn anyone's thoughts on it, although there is no proof (that i'm aware of) that * exists, there is also no proof that he doesn't, if people choose to believe then that is fine with me, equally for people who don't, however i don't like people condemning others' beliefs.

I am not a Christian, but i don't have a problem with Christians.

I'm really much the same mate.

I just get a bit tetchy about it when people imply that if you believe in * you're some sort of weak minded fool.

That's exactly how I feel, yet for some unknown reason somebody says "thats not what the bible says though", as if it was anything to do with what I was saying.
