Spot on, one bad result and he's Celtic Chat's new scape-goat.

Ledley and Stokes are just another two good players for us that have had threads created about them immediately after a poor result. It's beyond me how people can over-look the fact Ki was one of our best players before jetting off to the Asian Cup. Neil Lennon was praising him game after game and his ability was there for everyone to see.

Even thought the whole team was bad yesterday he stood out as being one of the worst.

I have no idea why he takes set pieces, the majority of his crossing, yesterday especially, have been atrocious!

Pretty sure his only duty was corners and possibly IDFK from our left hand side. This is typical nonsense by the way because a) the majority of set-pieces were from others and b) he put in 2 or 3 excellent crosses from corners..

Commons was corners from left and a DFK that we had. (Good DFK, not so great corners)

Hooper had an awful game, his touch deserted him completly. I don't see a thread about him anywhere. Its always the quiet players that get the blame

He just doesn't do enough in my opinion, I do believe he has the potential to be a cracking player but for me he needs to up his game when given a chance.

I'm not his biggest fan, but this post is nonsense. To blame one player for the poor performances at the beginning of the season while not giving him any credit for the great performances lately is selective blindness.

I am sorry but Ki was carrying the midfield in november and december, IN the past month Ledley and kayal hve been better and brown has been playing well too but it is typical to favour what we see now than what we had 2 months ago. Overall over the course of the year Ki has put in more decent performances thatn the rest of our midfielders.

Let's be honest we are all as fickle as *, just takes some of us longer to change our opinion. I think Ki is a good player but is a luxury we can ill afford in certain games, i.e. a farmer's field in Motherwell.

Have you considered Ki may be someone who hates injuring others? It's not a lack of effort, IMO. He has been improving defensively, but if he is a fair player, then he'll always tackle less and softer than some others.

I think because Ki is a ball player rather than a ball winner he has stood out as scapegoat for yesterday but not making excuses there is no way that park favoured a ball player. On a good surface he fits in better.

As Padmill has repeatedly said we are not trying to make Ki a scapegoat, just simply stating that in a four man midfield, Ki is a luxury we can't afford and it is like playing with ten men for the entire game in those circumstances, that is simply unacceptable in today's modern game. We need players who can adjust and adapt to whatever formation or tactics
the manager lays out in certain games, and Ki can't do that. I am of the opinion if we get a good offer of around £5M for Ki we should take it, and invest the monies in getting another top notch, hard tackling, adaptable central midfielder, who can be cover for Brown and Kayal

The statistics on Ki don't lie.
Read them again and see.Brown had a flawless winning record for us until Ki re- appeared on Sunday. But put him in beside Ki, and even his record was doomed.

How many games do we win with Ki starting? St Johnstone at home was the last one, and that was nearly a draw as well.

totally agree. Broony is more of an all action player on the right than he is when he has to play DM in the middle but when Kayal is injured Broony is the only guy hard enough to do the dirty work in CM. That was the situation before Kayal broke through and it is still the situation when Kayal is injured. Now, I think the hardness factor has meant Broony being played as a DM when that is a position that constrains his all action style. However, he has to take one for the team and play DM again when Kayal is out UNLESS we sign another tough DM. Personally I would like Broony not to have to play DM but he is still the best we have when Kayal is out. Ledley and Ki just cant defend without a Kayal or Broony type battler in their with them.

The statistic people keep peddling is ridiculous, it had absolutely nothing to do with the midfield. It's almost as if people don't watch games, look at the so called Ki statistic and come to a conclusion. He wasn't the ONLY person playing.

Motherwell away: 2-0 loss Poor game, as were the rest of the team
Rangers away: 2-2 draw Fantastic game up against it much of the time
St Johnstone at home: 2-0 win 70% possession, KI grabs a goal
Killie at home: 1-1 draw Midfield enjoyed 65% possession, chances were created but impotent attack and flimsy defence fail. Ki assists Rogne for equaliser
ICT at home: 2-2 draw The infamous 3-5-2 experiment born from a terrible spell for the centre-backs, KI grabs a goal
Dundee Utd at home: 1-1 draw Another dominant performance but wasteful up front, concede awful goal from set-piece Ki to blame for that no doubt

But the silly stat continues to misled given it's got a strange cut-off point. Ki actually started 8 games prior to that, but nah let's narrow it down to implicate as badly as possible.

His tidy passing flattered to deceive in CM that was not getting the results. When a player or section of the team looks good but we tend to not get the results when they play then they are lacking something. To be fair though he would probably have been better if he had a hard man next to him like Kayal or failing that Broony.

I agree with you gunt but could you not say the same for ledley? In certain games his impressive 3 yard slide rule pass seems to be deceiving many posters on this forum going by the looks of things.

To come back to Dr.V point he just stated by bringing up those "stats" how can you possibly direct the draws to ONE PLAYER, you say you aren't trying to make Ki a scapegoat yet what you say does exactly that, by implying Ki was to blame for every single goal lost in which none of the goals conceded he was responsible for is hypocritical, this whole thread has been certain people defending Ki, certain people castrating him and certain people with a mixed opinion. To say you are not making him a scapegoat then continue to imply he was the sole responsible player for the games he started in and we happened to lose points just is laughable to say the least, people seem to use these stats then forget who Ki was playing next to which was ledley and then forgive him it must have been Ki's fault, then we forget about the defence whos fault it actually was for loosing late goals against Dundee Utd and Inverness from corners in which Ki was not at fault but going by your stats obviously he was.

You then proceed to say a bid of 5M and sell him, now i don't know if you see the irony in this but by valuing at 5M implies he has ability, he is good because if he was as crap as people seem to think he is how would we receive this large figure for a player who delivers "nothing" to the team. Peace Out.
