Your opinion has changed massively since December.

You called his appointment a mistake and that we would pay the price for appointing such an inexperienced manager.

He is proving yourself (and thousands of others) very, very wrong with a team that is getting better every week.

No I dont think its 100% whether he wins the league or not but we need a few more months to see if the way we seem to have out first real team in a couple of years over the last 6 weeks is going to be sustained. I think it probably will but you never know in football. Football history is littered with good spells then failure.

What I dont want to happen is something like our failure to sign a CH or striker coming back to haunt us if a couple of key injuries happen and costing us the title. We have got a lot of quality in in attack but have cut corners a bit in defense (Izz aside) and whether that turns out to be fatal misjudgement or it doesnt matter is something we will find out over the next few months. There has been what I feel like is attack-skewed investment in players which kind of remind me of Tommy's days when we were world class from CM forward and SPL class in defense. Everything will come clear at the end of the season.

For a rookie manager Neil has done well so far. I would not be too worried about him being on a long term contract as i dont think he would leave us unless he was pushed.
Also i dont think to many of the big EPL clubs would be willing to offer him big money in this early stage of his managerial career.

there's potentially a great squad in place, Forrest and Keatings will hopefully step into the first team next season, there are a few players to be flogged this summer (Hooiveld, Rasmussen, Murphy, McGinn, Loovens) who can hopefully be replaced by 1 quality centre back and 1 quality striker then we will have the makings of an excellant squad.

team spirit is great as is the support from the fans & their noise this season.

I also can't understand why Reid was discussing such financial matters to the media, it now means teams will probably start to throw offers in our face for our best players

I think Peter Lawwell is doing a good job at our club, Lenny has been backed with cash and has bought virtually a whole new team. 10m for McGeady a great bit of business too. As we're a PLC all the financial figures are published so they have to talk about how difficult a year it's been as the figures are there for all to see!
If Lawwell doing such a bad job why are Liverpool after his services? Tell me why the board is a disgrace because I just don't see it!!:shamrock:

Agree 100% mate. Arsenal wanted Lawwell a year ago aswell. Would people rather we spent millions just now and suffer in the future. Oh wait, that sound like another team in Scotland, think they are from Glasgow also lol

Yes me and probably the majority by December. It looked very black right up until that OF game. We still looked fragile and we still looked like we didnt have the charachter to take on Rangers and we were one bad result from practically title-over.

I hope you are right but it is just as premature to conclude the assessment of Lenny as a manager when we have only turned the corner and looked really convincing since early January and its just mid Feb. Nothing is in the bag yet. Even in 2 more months I think things should be clear.

However, I will say this, the difference in charachter between this team before new year and since is like light and day. We were powderfuf, charachterless and lacked those things to match the decent technical level we had. That was not enough to take on Rangers. Lenny has in the Commons-Ledley-Kayal-Brown MF and bringing in a RB who can defend hit on something that is radically more solid than what went before.

Its almost like a plan B. I think plan A was a lot more like the old style 4-4-2 with a team loaded with attacking players, 2 wingers, flying FBs, creative CMs etc and that was simply not going to work. I certainly give Lenny loads of credit for seeing this and giving the side a vastly stronger defensive aspect since New Year.

We are better holding out til Sunday before handing out too much praise.you know what it's like on here.if he drops stokes or hooper and goes 451 and we don't win people will start saying he should have done this and that.and the same goes for 442.this Sunday is huge we really need to win.we can't afford to have to go to the bigot dome needing a win again like new year.cos if we are honest if the shots that hit the bar in the opening minutes of the last 2 huns games went in it could have been a totally different situation we are in.cos the team at new year would have crumbled and the cup game we would have been 2 down

No doubt and that would be wrong too if its just a blip on a good run. A lot of this OTT fan reaction is down to the 2 horse race in a weak league problem.

Even if we dont win * all saking him and starting YET AGAIN would be fuicking madness.....it would also dump us deep in the * the same as rangers.
This manager and the team he has build is the last chance,if we dont win spl and fail in europe then the piggy bank is 9million in the red and we wont have the cash to rebuild.
I would give him 3 years no matter what....sometimes it takes time.

I agree, though I can't see any manager at the OF going 2 years and staying in a job.

Winning the league this season would allow Lennon to hold on to ALL of his players and add 1 or 2 to further improve the side and could shift the balance in our favour fir years to come.

Losing, as disasterous as it may be would probably mean we would need to sell a few of our best players.

Either way I want Lennon to keep his job as he has done remarkably well so far. Not just on the park but off it as well and it is clear he is learning all the time and could very well take legendry status if we do in fact win the league this year and bury rangers.

the amount of stick charlie mulgrew got on here at the start of the season was shockin. People were writing him off and he had only played a few games . Saying he was lennys worst signing .. and he should * off .

Good to see a bit of humble pie on here now .

I am ashamed to admit I made the "lennon out" thread :54:

In my defence it was straight after caley draw at home and after a few hours of calming down and thinking about it I felt totally different but out of frustration straight after the game I did start the thread :54:

I do think my patience had not been so good with Lennon because of worries that it looked like turning into the Mowbray shambles the previous season.

Never have I been so glad to be totally wrong :celt_2:

    Agreed mate:50:

People go on about signing more and more players, but this limits our current SQUAD PLAYERS chances of ever breaking into the first team.
Take Charlie Mulgrew for example, Had we signed Davis from Notts Forrest in the Transfer window he would probaly never have got his chance at center half, where he has excelled and confident performances have helped him grow into the position. Would davis have been played any better had he signed?? Would Sol Campbell have played any better had he signed??

    IMO NO

The problem with making loads of panic transfer window signings to cover injuries is they often come take a decent wage of the club but have little or no impact.

Our squad is excellent as it is, in James Keatings we have an excellent prospect waiting in the wings for his chance, another possibly inferior striker would just have pushed him further back down the pecking order this season.
Just like Neil Lennon, You have to keep the faith lads.......

    NO IF'S
    NO BUT'S
    NO MAYBE'S

    TOTAL FAITH

I was very sceptical about Lenny, he has surprised me on several fronts.

    Great stuff.

I agree with most of this although I don't agree that Neil Lennon has to deliver the title to keep the job.

I feel more optimistic about Neil Lennon's ability to manage this club now than I ever have. I think he's growing into the job nicely. The results are coming good and the football is good to watch too.
