Corner Kicks

Hello, bonjour etc. I think this is my first thread on here. :bbpd:

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the quality of Kris Commons' corner kicks, before he came we were pish from them (even with big Maj); now in two games we have scored three goals from them.

I know, I know - it's the same team we've scored them against, but look at the highlights again. Commons' corners just seem to float perfectly (mind you, he can bend a quick one in (Mulgrew goal)).

Roll on this weekend.

It was something we were missing considering the amount of corners we were getting. As you say, we have looked more dangerous the last couple of games with the quality of the delivery. Reminds me of Barry Robson and before that Thompson. Hope it continues as sometimes if a ball is good enough, it doesn't matter what height the attacker is if the ball is put in with pace and accuracy as Mark Wilson proved last night. There is also the chance of a defender scoring an own goal

 

well if it's maintained, then i'll imagine we'll be seeing more goals from corners - and probably set pieces. definitely something we've been missing.

 

Commons has great technique - you can see it when he hits a shot, free kick or corner. Ki, Commons and Mulgrew all have that in common (arf!)

 

Yup I think we will get a lot of goals from his corners.....he has great delivery into the box

 

Very surprised this thread hasnt had more posts considering imo its been a massive issue with this team, commons, s delivery has been outstanding from corners, the balls he throws in are causing havoc, but before we seemed to be using out swingers, ie a left footer taking a corner from the right and a right footer taking them from the left, now this has frustrated me the whole season.

Imo it is harder to get the power and dirrection on a header from an outswinging corner than it is from an inswinger, inswingers cause far more danger to the opposition, you could get defelections and the ball could end in the net and there much harder to defend from the opposition, so all in all am happy that they have started producing because the start of the season we looked hopeless, were getting 15 corners a game and were not even getting close to getting the ball in the net so it looks as though commons has sorted that problem, it certainly looks that way imo anyway.

Good post, I agree. Since Commons has taken the corners we have had a few goals from them. Mulgrew can hit a decent ball in as well though

 

nice to see us getting goals from corners, over the last few seasons our threat from corners has been poor either hits first man or goes over everybody was begining to think it was a tactic.
