I think it depends how it is done and how often. Sadly I think most sampling is used solely as a lazy way to get into the charts nowadays - rappers find a catchy hook from the past that most people havent heard of then rap over the top of it and sell it as a repackaged lesser version of the original. This doesnt apply to Kayne West to be fair and his samples (such as in Power) dont actually mimic the original song but rather take a very small part of it, that he works around.

I read throught the first 9/25 pages and didnt recognise many of these newer rappers. All you guys in the loop still tell me what happened to these guys I used to listen to when I was at school......

The Roots - The Seed (reason i learnt drums - listen to it)
    Talib Kweli
    Jurassic 5
^ there was another group similar to these guys I forget the name of.
Mos Def I've mainly seen doing cameos in movies
    Pharoe Monche (sp?)
    Gangstarr

These were the stuff i liked, I reckon i could get back into them. Got into Nas too but he was alot more popular. I used to be the only guy that liked this music in my bit about 10yr ago lol.

    So frustrating!!!

the video won't buffer for me been sat at 0.03 second for ten minutes, all I can see is a bunch of hands lol, i'll try again later.

Anyway since this has turned into the official rap/hip hop thread, i'll leave this song of when Eminem was imo the best artist alive at that moment:

Thanks mate that link worked perfik.

It's trippy as * *, I like it though and I liked the decision to keep the live vocals for the video bold but admirable choice :50:

Surprised you have it down as one of your favourite video's of the year though, anyone who is really good with editing and graphic designs skills could have pulled it off don't you think?

probably but it is quite out the box in terms of music videos that are about just now in the mainstream and a think its cause everything runs with the beat so even the video is in time with the music and it keeps that whole concept through out. the other stand out video for me so far is lil wayne and bruno mars - mirrors its a cracking video

if that was released like 2 weeks later it would be my video of the year, it creeps the * out me but a think its a fantastic concept and not what you expect from a music video
