Think a midfield 2 of Kayal and Johansen would work well against Maribor. I like Biton as a player but based on Kayal's performance today he looked like his old self.

Was class in the second half.
For me he has to start away to maribor. Gives the midfield a bite we're going to need out there.

He was great when he came on.

I'd like to see a midfield 3 of him, Biton and Johansen against Maribor.

I'd personally like us to sell him.

if we get rid of him and Griffiths bring in some quality replacements we'll be a good team.

A thought he was excellent. Start him on Wednesday over Mulgrew!

Stokes was instrumental in our 6-1 win today.

    Arguably our best player.

Yet there is a good chance he will be useless during the week if he plays. Dont get me wrong I am a fan of Stokes but he is doesnt perform in Europe which is frustrating because he out performs most of our team in the league.

Waw. You have now convinced me to sell Griffiths and keep Stokes because of his performance today:smiley-laughing002:

Was excellent when he came on for the 2nd half. I think he'll be a regular this season.

I don't see the reason to sell either Stokes or Griffiths . If Kayal stays fit he is certain to get a lot of time on the pitch this season.

I wouldn't be against that but when Brown is back I'm pretty certain the two midfielders would be Johansen and Brown, that is if he continues with this 4231 formation which worked very well today.

I would be tempted to start with kayal on wednesday. Hes much more suited to the system that we are playing now than either johansen and mulgrew. He an absolute terrier in there which is exactly what you need when you are playing two men in midfield.

he is so slack in possession though it completely * his game . i would play charlie ahead of him every time.

In my opinion charlie isn't any better though. He played well today but he struggles mightily when pressed, even today he lost the ball right in front of our goal and almost gifted them a goal off of a goal kick. Kayal is slack in possession but so are johansen and mulgrew the only difference is kayal will work harder and is better defensively.

no kayal is miles worse than mulgrew in possession , mulgrew can be good in possession alot of the time . look at some of the passes he made even today the long sweeping one that griffiths took down and shot with . Kayal actually * up simple 12 yard square passes . Mulgrew offers so much more to the team .

I would agree that mulgrew has a better long range of passing and personally if it was up to me I'd be starting with a midfield 3 of him johansen and one of kayal, henderson, or biton but since ronny seems committed to his formation with only two center mids I think we need to sacrifice some skill for workrate or we will be overrun on wednesday.

As i said somewhere in this thread a while ago. Give him game time, we could have a new player. Really like him. With a bit of tweeking he could be our equivalent of Gattuso!
