    What has happened to Juarez??

    All,

When Juarez joined us I thought he was an outstanding player with his drive and quality in midfield. I know Ki and Ledley are performing well at the moment but I think we need this guy in the team. He is strong in the tackle and direct. I personnaly feel Juraez and Ledley would be an outstanding partnership and free ki to play in a more advanced playmakers role. I thought this Mexican ban would have allowed us to use him more but the opposite has happened and we very rarely see him even as a sub! This guy was being linked to Arsenal due to his early season form (this was probably nonsense).
I trust in Lenny but I feel he very rarely makes a substitution in games and this is resulting in our current benchwarmers like Juarez, McCourt and others getting very few opportunities to prove their worth. Has anyone else been wondering why he isn't featuring?

    Joe

I really like Juarez but there is no reason to break up Ki and Ledley's partnership. I have been very impressed with the two of them.

    Effran Juarez Celtics invisible man

When Effran Juarez was first linked with Celtic I am the first to admit I didn’t know a lot about the little Mexican.

After much web surfing though I quickly came to the realisation that he was a player of undoubted quality.

When he eventually did sign he endeared himself to the faithful very quickly with his personality and desire to play for the hoops.

His appreciation and knowledge of Celtics history was unusual but extremely welcome.

“Ah, 1967! Celtic won the league, the cup and the Champions League!” He added “That was amazing, the first club in the world to do that, it was historic,”

“I remember the final against Porto in Sevilla. It was amazing, they are amazing fans. Seventy-thousand fans went to Sevilla. I tell you, it’s amazing that 70,000 supporters travelled. Only a few clubs would have this kind of support follow them all over the world. It’s a very famous club in Mexico. The people there are happy that I signed for Celtic.”

His own past is fairly impressive, too. Five years ago he was part of a Mexican side, also featuring Carlos Vela of Arsenal and Tottenham forward Giovani dos Santos, that won the under-17 World Cup. That success, where he played in every game, earned him a trial at Barcelona, only for red tape to scupper his chances of moving through the ranks at Camp Nou.

After an unhappy time in Andalusian regional football, he returned home to Pumas, his boyhood team, and progressed to become a first-team player at club level and a regular in the national team. Not bad for a 22-year-old.

His Celtic career started well with a brilliant second half performance against Arsenal in the Emirates cup followed by goals and classy performances in the home legs against Braga and Utrecht respectively.

These performances cemented Juarez as an early fan favourite.

Fast forward two months and he often finds himself an unused substitute. What happened?

I have heard a few different stories. I will indulge you.

The first rumour I heard was regarding his unhappiness at our early exit from Europe. Apparently (and I use the term loosely) he instructed his agent to find him a new club in January.

The second rumour links in with the first, after newspaper reports linked him with Arsenal earlier in the season Effran instructed his agent to ‘make it happen’

These of course could be and probably are just rumours however something is not right.

Could it be something as simple as his performances in training? Has Ki stepped above him in the pecking order on ability alone? Or is Lennon breaking him in gently to the Scottish game?

I am lost on this one and would love either the player or manager to let us know what’s going on with our most exciting pre season signing.

His recent ban from the Mexican national team may also be a factor although Lennon publicly supported him stating the ban wasn’t fair and it has been blown out of proportion.

As we head in to January I am still of the opinion that we need ball winner in the middle of the park and this may push him further out of the picture.

I am interested to hear what you think.

Is Juarez a Mexican or a Mexicant?

This is what I have feared and I too believe along with emilio that he was one of the standout signings in the summer. Lenny see's him in training and maybe he isnt doing it. I just think he looked the part early doors and has more steel than Ki. Who would have thought that with Brown and Kayal injured that we would not have Juarez in midfield after his impressive start??? certainly not me!

He's had some poor games and will have to work to earn a place in the side. Simple as that.

Have to disagree with the OP. He's anything but strong in the tackle.

Think Ki is a better player and his passing and set pieces make him a starter. I also don't see this hard as nails midfielder that so many people seem to think he is, IMO he doesn't like a tackle and we get more out of Ki and Ledley

I still think Lenny should make more substitutions and give people like Juarez at least some game time

Juarez is my favourite signing that we made in the summer. He played some outstanding football at the Emirates Cup and also in our European Qualifiers. I can't see a reason that he is not getting started, ok Ki and Ledley have been good partners in midfield, why not at least try Ledley and Juarez for a few games?

I fear that we will lose him if he doesn't start getting game time. He is a player I would definitely not want to lose. If he gets more games and puts in performances like he did early on for us, when the inevitable does come (hopefully a few years) we can sell him for big money.

Hope he gets a start on Saturday against Aberdeen. The fans love him. Can't understand why he's not getting games, or even subbed!

There was a lot of expectation when Juarez first signed, there must be some kind of falling out as lenny seems very reluctant to play him, i could see him leave in january as the current situation dosen't suit him or celtic.

I don't think this is true but if it is then he can get to *.

Don't want players like that in the dressing room but as I said, I don't think this is true.

You've answered the question yourself, Ki and Ledley are doing well, there's no reason to drop them.

Maybe somethings going on behind the scenes. If not, then I hope he moves on to a bigger club.
