What do u guys think about our defense now?

I think that they are playing much better than a couple of months ago. Maj and Rogne have formed a great partnership at the heart, Izzy has been phenomenal on the left. Wilson is probably the weakest link but he is quite decent for the SPL.

I think our defense just needed a bit of time to settle in and get to know each other better. Once that was accomplished we started keeping our sheets clean in the majority of the matches.

Also, i think a combative midfield has a lot to do with it. Kayal is doing a great job winning balls and frustrating other teams. Ledley is also doing a great job. And what i think is very important they are not loosing the ball with stupid incomplete passes in the middle of the park, which would leave our defense exposed.

I think Brown can also be helpful if he is used as a pressuring attacking midfielder (between the cm pair and the striker).

Ki and Juarez can also help a lot with defensive tasks when they play.

All in all i think that our defense is going from strength to strength. Long may it continue.

Rogne and maj have played well together and have formed a partnership I'd say. however with Rogne's age I don't think it's a bad idea to have another center back in there. Lets not forget that an injury to either of them has loovens or hoovield back in the team. I don't know that we need to sign anyone this window as we have kevin wilson coming soon enough and if we do sign anyone it would make sense for it to be him cos he'd only cost a few 100k.
The fact Wilson is the weakest link in the back line is a good thing. Wilson is far from a bad player. can tackle & cross. Which is two things Cha can't do.
What we do need this window, even a loan deal is a striker considering we're going into a game tonight with one striker..

We've kept 4 clean sheets in a row, and we've conceded the least amount of goals in Britian (I'm sure I read that before the OF, and we haven't conceded since), so our defense can't be that bad. Maybe someone like Dunne would be great, or a really solid RB, but I think we're fine in defense.

i dont get why people say things like Wilsons good enough for the SPL, when we play in the SPL. if he was good enough for La Liga then he'd play in La Liga.

a steady if unspectacular player and a really good guy to have in the squad.

Rogne and Majstorovic are good togeher, Izzaguire is excellent and Wilson solid, but i think our midfield helps them a lot. We could use new RB/CB with potential to be first team player and I would like Mišůn and Hooiveld to get some time at some point of the season. So far I'm quite comfortable with our defense.

If we want to keep Misun I think he needs some game time. Don't like to see the cb pairing changed often, but whats the harm in putting him on when yer gubbing a team? Remebering he can play cb or lb.

Having a proper DM like Kayal is helping the defence. That's not the sole reason though, Maj and Rogne are looking better together and Izzy is fantastic. Not too keen on Wilson but he's been alright lately.

The reason they got abuse is not becuase they conceded goals but the games in which they conceded goals, when we were 1-0, 2-0 up and they let the goals in, they were vital times we had to keep the opposition out and led to drawing the game

Plus the fact they were stupid type goals not brought about my clever attacking play, but caused by pure * stupidity by our defence.
We almost had a return of it the other night when Berwick were denied what I thought was a stonewall penalty.

I think the tactics was what was making our defense so dodgy, no cover for the CB and two wing backs tearing up the pitch constantly. Now with Kayal in at DM it gives extra solidity to our team and the opposition can't come straight through the middle at us. In saying that I still think Maj is a bit of a bombscare, seems to run past the ball sometimes making his heading * and very slow on the ground but he's ok for this season hopefully. If Wilson arrives in Jan maybe Maj will buck his ideas up.

I think our defence is not getting the credit it fully deserves this year.

11 clean sheets in 21 league games.

14 clean sheets overall.

5 clean sheets in the last six games.

1 offside goal conceded in the last six games.

The best defence in the league.

The best defence in terms of goals conceded in the entire United Kingdom.

Def had more to do with having brown or kayal n the middle as ki and ledley were getting pushed around.

Starting to look much more settled now, but there are still too many hairy moments for me, like Maj losing his man in the opening seconds today, plus the goal we lost on Wednesday was poor, offside not withstanding.

Would still like to see another CB and Hinkel being given a new contract.

There's no doubt that things have improved. The more players play alongside each other, the more accustomed to each other they will become. Playing the same starting 11 week in, week out truly does benefit a team as they all get to know each other.
Rogne & Maj are forming a decent partnership, Emilio has been great and Wilson/Cha have been doing ok, however we should defo strengthen from our position of strength.
It's also worth noting that the defense have been helped by the return of Kayal and Brown, whilst in some games (i.e. v huns) our players defended from the front and closed them down quickly enough and that's good to see.
It's always worth remembering that it's the job of the team to defend, the job of the team to score and the job of the team to win!!!

The defense are now doing there job but some credit has to go to Kayal ,He does'nt let many past him and is acting like the extra man in defense at times ,but fair play to rest and hopefully there now settling down.
