Gravesen isnt proven in the CL. He was Real Madrid but I dont remember him playing many CL games. He hasnt looked convincing for Celtic in the CL either

Knew this would happen....Was just being lazy and getting everything in the one sentence. TG hasn't looked convincing in any game for Celtic btw. What i am saying is that he has not just performed over the course of one season like Maloney he has a proven record in International matches and also the EPL and Bundeslegia..And can we compare the two? Lately Celtic have a track record of tying contacts and payments with performances so if you use that criteria TG is worth the contract he signed while Shaun really still has to earn that wage(if that is the problem)

I f Gravesen is on a big salary he's done nothing to justify it yet IMO, although it is still early days for him. Maloney has more than proved that he deserves an improved contract, for Maloney to be allowed to leave would be criminal.

The alure of premiership and the return to MON may be a lure for Maloney, but he is a Bhoy through and through and he will sign for Celtic, and if they have any sense they will pay him for a good long contract.

MON love ya man, but keep your hands off our youth.

Is Villa really an option cos the club captain Barry is the one who occupies the left midfield position??

Agreed mate, and I hope young Maloney remembers that, but Villa have a lot of money, and O' Neill is an admirer, and Maloney is maturing.

The crap reality given the difference between the SPL and EPL income is that any outstanding Celtic player we bring through is going to be tested by an offer of double or more the wages that we pay (if we do not want to bankrupt the club). We just bucked the trend for a few years under MON by going some way to match EPL wages but it was not sustainable. We are just back in * reality and this goes back to the days of Dalgish, Nicholas etc, The better a player we produce, the more likely they will be tempted by more dosh and nicked off us. The best hope we have is that we stretch ourselves to the sustainable maximum to bridge the gap between what we can pay and what EPL etc can pay and then hope that the remaining gap is bridged by loyalty (REMEMBER THAT!), players not wanting to uproute their families, the fact we are such a great club, gauranteed Europe every season etc. Our only way of meeting big wage demands half way is to perform finacially to our maximum. The best way of doing that is 2nd stage or better CL every year and (unfortunately) probably more hawking ourselves in pre-season around the world (preferably not being * this time-cant have won to many foreign fans over!).

So if SM signs a pre-contract with some EPL club in January will he get the same treatment as Liam Miller...not advocating this just curious

Maloney only played when Henrik was injured that season. MO'N didn't play him as much as he should have. As I've stated before, he is not MO'N's type of player, he's unpredictable and he's short.

ONE MORE TIME FOR THE CHEAP SEATS - IF MO'N HAD STAYED AT CELTIC, MALONEY WOULD HAVE LEFT THE CLUB.

At age 23 or so this is an ideal time to sign a new contract, say three years, which will be on excellent money, allbeit not as much as he is probably looking for. If he still wants to try the Premiership in three years time then good luck to him. The days of Paul McStay - one club man - are long gone, though, in Paul's case, I don't think clubs were battering at the door trying to sign him.

    What!!???

The maestro had several opportunities to leave Celtic, but chose to stay at the club during a very traumatic time in it's history.

I for one will be eternally grateful to him

Don't believe what i have just read here..Several French clubs,Man U and others tried to tempt the Maestro...He and his family are Celtic thru and thru.
Never confuse his loyalty with lack of options because you are seriously mistaken there...:47: :47:
