    Not at all.

This is a debate marti, generally people take sides in a debate, you are on one side and I am on the other.

    Jesus *.

Right, just personal, but surely the club is an expression of Irish culture and identity in Scotland.

Why should this be changed? Why is this unwelcomed? Why change ourselves and identity to pander to bigots, be it the SFA,Media & Scottish society?

Many feel were Scottish club and so their entitled to, but I feel its an expression of my identity & reflects the 'More than a club' matra.

If not, what is difference between us and say Hibs? Other than winning a European cup.

Fair enough and I respect your posts more than my facetious remarks may let on.

We're never going to agree on this and will likely end up going in circles.

Nobody wants or advocates that change

That's what your side of the debate don't realise. We are not saying stop waving tricolours, bring more saltires and by the way, enough with the Irish songs on the tannoy.

It doesn't matter if you are Scottish, Irish, English, American or whatever, you should be proud that we are an inclusive club that is the greatest and most successful Scottish football club, with Irish heritage that must always be preserved.

But when it comes to the most important part: football. We are Scottish. We have played in Scotland since 1890 and represent Scotland in UEFA.

Football is the most important part of supporting Celtic, if you think singing the Wolfe Tones or chants in support of Bobby Sands are then that's your decision. I'm not denying you that choice. Just don't caricature or falsely state we are something we're not.

I think we can all agree that Celtic means many things to many people.

I enjoyed that debate though, was fun.

No one is denying our Irish routes, they are a key part of the clubs identity, but some of our supporters have the attitude that if you don't revel in Irishness your not a real Celtic fan. There is nothing wrong with showing an interest in Irish culture but to have a go at fellow supporters for being different is totally backwards.

That is part of the magic of Celtic.

I wish we could all have a chat round a table over a few pints, much easier to articulate points in person and there is much more natural ebb and flow to debate rather than the cold finality of each post on here:50:

It has happened to me personally on this forum, its happened to familly and friends of mine at games in pubs, I've even had this argument with friends of mine. Usually agree to disagree and forget about it. I'm not saying that its happening all the time, but it has been more frequent recently

Agreed. Someone said the same a few weeks back, think it was Daver (I might be wrong). It's very hard to gauge someones tone on here and it can be easy to misinterpret their emotion.

I swear like a * trooper and it might come across as aggressive on here but in actual fact I've used sweary words all my life to mask a very fast talking style I have, so I curse to stop a stutter, if you had a pint with me you would pick that up.

Couple that with wearing my heart on my sleeve and I find myself typing how I talk in real life because i'm typing as fast as I talk and just type the words as they come into my head.
