not so much my personal politics but the place that we live in. i go to celtic park to watch my team play football, other supporters can display their banners but when it starts to hurt the team, thats when i get worried.

When politics starts hurting the most important aspect of our team, the fans. It becomes necessary to protest and point out inconsistencys. If that means we get fined so be it.

Why is it when someone enters the debate and says "I might have missed the point" of the banner/protest they are automatically branded a "H*n" "cretin" "idiot" etc.

I've said before and will say again if you want to further your cause in a democracy then you have to carry people with you. If you merely insult them when you don't like their opinion or when they are not up to speed with the subtleties of Irish history, the situation in Palestine or any other part of the world outside your own wee bit hill and glen, you damage your cause fundamentally.

Just as you would argue that one person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter, so one person's idiot can be another person's genius.

Probably because he made this post earlier without actually knowing what the banner is about. Some people have just seen Bobby Sands and got upset. :56:

That is the problem Penguin. in the world we inhabit the vast majority of the population see and react. Reading the fine print is not always high on their agenda. So if you are trying to get a point over it's incumbent on you to try and retain people's attention long enough to get the messge and not have them quickly reach for the "on/off" button.

The GB were pointing out that the SNP are happy to revel in and celebrate the history of a Scottish freedom fighter because they can win votes doing so. Meanwhile they outlaw the celebrations of Irish freedom fighters even though their aims are broadly similar. They used Wallace and sands as example of the SNPs inconsistent view where one is considered s patriot and one a terrorist.
