Don't Benfica have a record for most subscribed fans than any other in the world? Remember seeing something in Guinness World Records.

They have Neymar just now. Some of those clubs must be in the top 20 or 30 anyway

you are right, they have been in a mess for 2-3 years now. However I think we need to consider the whole history to be fair.

if we only look at the past 10 years, Chelsea and Arsenal were better in the prem league than Liverpool, but in europe they are pretty much nobodies trophywise - always have been.

Also I feel the term fanbase is overrated in this thread. first of all, there are no stats or numbers, we can only guess and let's guess the weather in Nairobi right now - we just can't. It's all about tradition/history and success (trophies!!).

That's why our team celtic ain't a top 5 team - because of the lack of success.

John Hartson said in a recent interview that Celtic were behind only Man Utd in terms of club size.

Obviously biased, although don't know how he worked that out. If he added Barcelona, Real Madrid and few other giants, it would be a bit less ludicrous, but that's just stupid.

The best way to judge what club is 'biggest', we should look at the amounts sponsors are willing to pay. The more money they pay, the more exposure they expect to get which is a good indication of the seize of the club.

Then compare the new sponsorship deal of Barca with the one Celtic has concluded this year and you know where we stand.

You'd be relieved as you'd be supporting Celtic because we'd pump you. :icon_mrgreen:

I think if you were to ask this question with Celtic being exposed to the levels of multimedia revenue down South there would be some different answers coming back.

We've got the history and with a few quid we'd be the present as well :50:

Think we need to broaden our outlook, there are some massive clubs in South America, with history, honours and supporters that more than match european clubs
