Hamas was only elected in one part of Palestine but they chose to ifnore the results from Gaza which went against them, thats why they had the civil war and hence abbas controls gaza. Hamas were not democratically elected, that would be like saying saddam was elected

Details of the Oslo Accords

It was rabin who was assasinated, and he did tell an Isreali newspaper during the Oslo accords that he would dismantle the settlements if attacks on Isreal stopped, after the oslo accords attacks on Isreal increased.

While I agree that Isreal is responsible for most of the problems, Hamas needs to recognize Isreals right to exist before there will ever be any peace
