Firstly, bellamy is on a season long loan, so city would make the final call on that one. Secondly, no person in their right mind would swap loovens for bellamy!

End for Glenn? Celtic outcast Loovens is wanted back by Cardiff in exchange for Hudson

End for Glenn? Celtic outcast Loovens is wanted back by Cardiff in exchange for Hudson | Mail Online

Cardiff City want axed Celtic defender Glenn Loovens back — and are prepared to offer former skipper Mark Hudson in a straight swap deal.

Sportsmail sources in the Welsh capital say Bluebirds manager Dave Jones has set his sights on five new players in January following a takeover by Malaysian businessmen.

And top of his list is Loovens, after the Dutchman was dropped from Celtic’s first team last month.

The exchange on offer to Parkhead manager Neil Lennon is 28-year-old centre-back Hudson, captain of Cardiff until Craig Bellamy’s arrival on loan in August.

The former Charlton skipper joined Cardiff in the summer of 2009 and is a first-team regular.

With Celtic scouring Europe for defensive reinforcements, Cardiff hope the deal will appeal to Lennon, but the Parkhead club would prefer a straight return on the
£2million they paid Cardiff to bring former Dutch international Loovens to Glasgow in the summer of 2008.

With Jones failing in a bid to take the defender back on loan in July, however, a straight
swap deal is the latest proposal on the table from the ambitious Championship side,
who lie second in the table.

Revealing his intentions for January, Jones admitted: ‘I’m looking at players and in the
process of drawing up a list, but I don’t know if I can do any deals yet.

‘We need four or five players to strengthen the squad and help us have that final spurt.

‘If we pick up a couple of injuries and an illness like we had recently, then we have
only six players to sit on the bench.

‘We’re still not anywhere near where we should be and we’re still sorting out the debt
problems at the club. But we’re fighting for our lives to get out of this division.’

In an admission which puts 27-year-old Loovens in the frame, Jones added: ‘You look
around for the best deals and look for the players who haven’t done well and fallen off
the mark so you can rebuild and get the best out of them.

‘People talk about this club now having money, but we don’t spend anything. I wheel
and deal and get the loans where other clubs pay some of the wages. It’s what a lot of
    managers do.’

Lennon admitted to being ‘livid’ with his defenders after a stunning Parkhead fightback
by Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the weekend.

The Celtic manager is a long-term admirer of Nottingham Forest contract rebel Kelvin Wilson while AA Gent’s Slovenian international Marko Suler has been scouted regularly this season, with reports in Belgium claiming Parkhead representatives will
track the defender’s performance in a Europa League clash with Levski Sofia this evening.

I wouldn't bet on it. Why would Davy Jones want to give us his skipper for Loovens. Something fishy there. I would rather have the money.
