Best left back in the world?

Left Wing back/midfielder.

 

No, he has been played at LW, but he is basically a left-back. He's played there most of his career, and even Redknapp said the other week he sees him long-term as a LB.

I'm not saying he's a world-beater, likes, just that he's the best in the EPL.

Globally, it's Lahm, then Abidal, after that it's a struggle to name anyone half-decent. Dunno why, but there just seems to be this absence of good LBs around at the moment...

 

Fabio Coentrao. He is only 22 and for me is up their with the best already.

 

I would go for Lahm. Interesting this thread is in the week that Cole got that assist for Sunderland. Evra is up there as well and Clichy isnt a bad player.

No, he was/is able to play in both positions. He has rarely played LB for Spurs. Most of his apps have been at LW and I think of late, it is clear that that is his best position. If he hasn't been playing LB, how can you say he's one of the best there??

There will be loadsa LB's. We tend to focus on other positions. Same with RB. Most of us would find it easier to name the best in any other positon in our opinions in comparison to Full back.

 

Cole without a doubt imo gareth bale is not near that level especially in the LB position the guy was getting slated last season for his defensive capabilities. Evra hasnt been as good as he was in 08 but hes still up there right behind cole imo.

 

Ashley Cole is such a complete player. Similar to Evra, but generally he has been in better form over the last 2/3 years. He's a top player. In what sense is he overrated? Watch him regularly, he's got it all.

 

Razvan Rat is a cracking left back.

 

If Lahm is a contender, Capedevila, despite his age and defensive weaknesses could also be in my opinion. Though I believe Lahm is probably better. Lahm is much-improved now. I had seen him before the WC and thought he was awful. Think people should try and base it more on solely WC if possible.

Ian Harte is the best crossing, shooting and free-kick taking LB in the world. It's a pity he can't really run or defend.

I agree. Cole is a great player. I think it's everything that has happened off the pitch that makes people dislike him so much and that will stop them from giving him credit on his ability.

 

Got to agree m8 there doesn't seem to be many good left backs around at the moment, Evra seems to have lost it a bit in the past few years. So there can only be one choice Ashley Cole even though I hate the *!

Unfortunately, it has to be Ashley Cole, and i cant stand him. At one point i would have gone for Capdevilla. Mo Camara has to be a close second to Cole though haha

 

Got to be Ashley Cole and has been for a good few years, does Chivu not play at LB sometimes, he is a great player.
