a lot of people wondered why wee jimmy johnstone only got 23 caps for scotland

the answer is because he asked big jock to ask the sfa not to pick him because he got so much stick from scotlands rangers fans when he played as did pat crelland who also chucked it...60 % of scotland fans were rangers fans at the time.

a time when the sfa picked the team..crelland chucked it because out of 25 named scotland players 12 of them played for rangers..you can only play 11 in club matches so why 12 rangers players while leaving the likes of jimmy out altogether

i got this from "lord of the wing" ,pat crelland tells the story,he said it was scandalous and never wanted conciderd again for scotland

have u seen a handsome hun
i can recall as a child at hampden for my first scotland game. tommy burns came on as a sub and was booed by a section of scotland fans........i can also recall danny mcgrain being played at left back to accommodate sandy jardine who couldnt play there. mcgrain at the time was possibly the best right full back in the world at the time and he was being played out of position.

Still happening today with Maloney, the Scotland team is half the Rangers team yet they orange * are still supporting * England, I know we support Ireland as well but for the SFA to be so Orange doesn't make sense, then again they are huns.

There has been, and still is, undoubted bias within Scottish football. In light of the whole Dougie McDonald thing, if an official (who is meant to be completely honest) can tell a lie of any sort, it makes you wonder what possibly goes on within the SFA. I've been told by people that when Lambert, McNamara, etc played for Scotland they were booed. And I'm unpatriotic for not following Scotland . . .

Well obviously I support England and The Republic, and obviously supporting Stockport, I hate Manchester City but I don't boo any City players that come on etc. I know it's a bad example because obviously the Old Firm is bigger than City Vs. County but it's the same concept.

Pathetic bitter Huns, can't stand the fact that us dirty immigrants are taking up their precious spaces, how else can they go on at everybody that they are the biggest club in the world!

One of the main reasons why I hate the Scottish national team and SFA.

Has been going on for years and a remember when i read the jinky biography i was ragin at that cos jinky is scotland's best ever player and to be capped so little because the hun fans gave him too much * is terrible, the bias has been going on for years and the way the system is , it is likely to continue, * the SFA and * Rangers

picking 12 rangers players for a scotland team while the lisbon lions are still playing together at the top of their game is hard to belive

the lisbon lions should have been the scotland team,,know what i mean..that team represented scotland finest sporting moment ever,,they dident just win the european cup they won the worlds respect and made attacking football what it is today...all the flair players today get their skills from the likes of watching jimmy johnstone..everyone wanted to be jimmy johnstone when we played football...

i remember taking the huff cos i couldent be jimmy johnstone in a kick about at school ,someone else bagged it before me,lol

Bang on sir, was talking to Bobby Lennox about this about a year ago at the chapel Christmas Party. He said there was bias towards the rangers players by the selectors, Wullie Henderson was the guy that kept getting picked ahead of jimmy johnstone.

He did add though that he prefered playing for his club rather than his country (he did say though he was proud to play for his country) and that many of the others felt the same.

Not sure exactly how many caps he got either, but as you said the whole team should have played.

i got my OP wrong ,its misleading..jock stien was manager of scotland but the sfa picked the team..jock was handed the list of 22 players ,not 25 and of the 22 players 12 were rangers players..so its actually a worse stat than i wrote before,,pat crerand says it was discusting and i never played for scotland again

i also wrote 60 % of scotland fans were rangers fans it was actually 75 % so again a bit worse that i first wrote ,sorry about that

the jimmy johnstone bit is true though ,he asked jock to ask the scotland team selectors not to pick him again because he couldent take anymore of the things they were saying to him when he played,

I also remember Celtic players getting booed playing for Scotland.

There were also fewer games played back the so that might account for fewer caps. Scotland only played 4 qualifying games for the 1974 world cup in Germany.
