    Even though I hail from Belfast and have lived here all my time I support teh Republic of Ireland.

    I like to see Northern Ireland do well but the sectarian issues put me off. I'd much rather have an all Ireland team just as George best himself wanted.

    Exactly, alot of my mates are like that - "I wouldn't support a * country" etc. One set of my grandparents were irish so i dont mind them doing well, but just ditching the country u were born and raised in is ridiculous, sheepish and pathetic and supporting Ireland doesnt make you "more of a celtic supporter" no matter what some ppl think.

    I would love to see a United Ireland team just like in Rugby. Let's face it it's not like either side is blessed with an over abundance of players so we would be much better if it was just Ireland instead of 2 teams. Reality is that it will happen as football will end up having to follow once the border disappears and in any case already many of the 6 counties best players are declaring for Ireland at the youth ranks so just like the Nationalist vote creeping ever closer to 51% in 6 county politics the process of a united Ireland team is already underway.

    Actually not sure I know what you mean for sure. Certainly the loyalist anti Irish sectarian nature of the IFA will always be against a united Ireland team but IMHO it is inevitable. To be honest I hope the IFA and their loyalist buddies keep kicking and screaming all the way because it will make the day a united Ireland team trots out all the more sweet:celt_2:
