Timmy you give Lennon a 9, you must have been severely intoxicated when you watched the game, guess you dont remember him passing the ball in the usual direction back, and Caldwell actually could have been pulled up for impeding Saha, or it would have been an easy goal give away by Lennon.
Lennon was one of the worst players on the park, and there were plenty, on both teams!

the managers tactics were spot on altho 1 mistake ..tell me this when wilson went off injured .. * is wrong ..why not bring on pearson at right back or even the lad cuthbert ... anyone bar that telfer * ffsk ... no way he shudda came on in a game of that ilk ... hope he never graces our jersey again . waste of space.. if wilson is out injured for 1 or 2 games even .. and bobo is fit now i would push caldwell out to right back temporary for now .. please no telfer tho.

Strachan got his tactics spot on. He picked the right players but some didnt perform

McGeady and Gravesen were the worst offenders for making unforced errors. Gravesen's cost us the game.

Boruc - 8 Shouldn't have came out to Giggs but showed his class for the rest of the game
Wilson - 7 Solid performance but didn't cause too many problems going forward
Caldwell - 7 Solid aswell considering the pressure he was under by Saha
McManus - 8 Stepped up the level better than Caldwell
Naylor - 7 Alright at the back, got some very good crosses in that werent attacked
Lennon - 7 Did alright, kept giving other players the option of a pass and easing pressure of the back 4 bar one mistake
Nakamura - 8 Played well, didnt do stupid things with the ball, scored a cracker but didnt put in many tackles and stepped back from Saha's volley!
Gravesen - 5 Too many unforced errors, looked very slow aswell. Needs to up his game alot
Jarosik - 7 Worked hard, earned Naka's free kick, kept trying the whole time with little payoff
McGeady - 6 Almost as bad as Gravesen but he didnt give away the ball in his own half. Needs to make up his mind and go for it.
Vennegoor - 7 Good goal, gave Rio and Brown loads of trouble, pity we couldn't get more ball to him in the 2nd half.

Telfer - 5 He's just crap and Strachan can see the difference between him and Wilson much clearer now
Miller - 6 Did Ok but didnt get many chances to skin players, good cross for VOH, Rio was all over the place
Maloney - 6 Showed flashes of last years form, pity he wasnt fit for 90 minutes

Strachan - 9 Got his tactics spot on and picked the right starting 11 going on form but some didnt bring it with them.

Sorry, but I've got to laugh at some of your comments on this board, I'm on here more of an observer (to see what you lot would say) rather than slate and slag off. I've no real interest in the SPL so my opinions based on last night are based on what I saw.

I was at the game as I'm a season ticket holder, and no I'm not one of the prawn sandwich brigade, even though I'm sat with a load of statues (as I expect you lot are at times!), but I thought last nights game was played out between two very average sides.

United's performance was very poor, defensively they were a total shambles and that includes Van Der Sar who I blame for the first goal more so than Ferdinand. In midfield we were anonymous, with Carrick and Fletcher being utter garbage (please take Fletcher, he's arguably the worst United player I've ever see! :38: ), but I thought that Celtic were little better, if not worse.

The referee was garbage for both sides, and some of his decisions were pathetic, but that's what you get with some of these European refs.

The return leg on November 21st should be interesting, but I can't believe United could possibly be as poor again as they were last night. Rooney and Scholes were never in it after being out for the past three games and even though Saha scored twice, his second touch is generally a tackle. I'd say United's best player was Solskjaer, and that says a lot as he came on as a substitute.

As for Celtic, excuse my ignorance but I only knew some of the players and weren't particularly impressed with any of them.

Out of interest, do any of you know the ticket allocation will be for the return leg? I have heard on the grapevine it will be similar (6500) but that's yet to be confirmed.

I expect you'll beat both Benfica and Copenhagen at home, and beat Copenhagen away. You'll lose to Benfica away (very tough place to go) and of course ............. United will play a * load better at Celtic Park and win 1-3 :84:

barca99ole20, you sound like the prawn sandwich brigade with your "us and them" attitude.

We werent at our best last night either and we were missing our Player of the year and our best defender which we badly needed both.

Typical arrogant * from typical arrogant b@stards. Nothing being said about that cheating welsh * Giggs. You were all greeting your eyes out over Portugal's cheating antics in the World cup but now your own side are the exact same. I hope Gigg's legs are broken.
We'll beat you at Parkhead and I hope you're there to see it.

Lads i tell you i'm * proud as can be of last night's performance.Right enough there were obviously some individual errors which cost us the match (TG) but when you listened to the english media we were gonna get punted by these *.Facts of the matter is a dodgy penalty decision (thanks very much Lubos Michel the * from seville still shafting us 3 years later) and a winner which came from a mishit shot and landed at the feet of Solskear. We played some good stuff, defended well for most of match full backs did some great work down the flanks and reduced them to what amounted to punting down the middle.
Nowt to be ashamed of at all, heads held up high in work today.Once the lads play together a bit more, get used to each other i'm expecting great things.
    P.S How big a * is that jonnyevams *.What a *

very good game last - i said it would be tight.

we were very lucky with the giggs penalty, but if your keeper wants to charge at him like that, making no attempt for the ball, and only trying to pull away at the last second, then the blame is with him, not giggs.

Rio was poor last night, Nakmarmaakkama (lol) was quality.

The most enjoyable CL game in long while at OT, both sets of fans were great.

can't wait for the return leg now, good luck in the mean time byoys

I'm not arrogant? United were * last night, didn't realise that made me arrogant to admit that? Although I didn't think Celtic played that well either, and as I say I was only going on the game that I watched last night not whats happened previously.

From where I was sitting North Stand Tier 2 row 29, I couldn't see whether Giggs dived or was bought down, it all happened so quick and from that distance I couldn't see * all. If he did dive, then * happens, I don't suppose any Celtic players have ever dived and are all whiter than white. At the end of the day the referee makes the decision, not the crowd, or the TV etc.

If he saw it as a dive he should have booked Giggs for diving, as he gave a penalty then obviously he thought the keeper touched him and he went down. I ain't see it yet as I never got back till 3:00 (* roadworks on the M6) and was in work at 8:00, so I'll hold judgement until I see it.

As for me being one of prawn sandwich brigade, I don't think so. I am the most vocal around and generally try and get the others around me up and singing. As you may know, some people tend to turn up at games, sit on their hands and wait to be entertained, which isn't always the case.

I've been following United for 30 years and have seen some utter * in that time, so in the triumphant times you must embrace them, because they ain't going to last forever. At the moment we are playing OK, but the squad is *-poor, the manager is approaching the end of his tenure and for one reason or another we are struggling to attract top players. We make a bid, Chelsea bid an extra £7m even though they don't need him and we end up missing out AGAIN, that's the way its going!

We've got some excellent young players coming through and I see that two of them are currently with your arch rivals at Ibrox. Not sure if any of you have seen Lee Martin or Phil Bardlsey playing? not that I expect you give a *, just wondered if they were diong any good?

As for McGeady, I know Fergie asked about him a few years back after we got Miller (why????), he looks a decent player, but reminds me a lot of David Healey, don't know if that's fair or not?

As for some of your other players, Graveson. He was good at Everton but from what I know, that was mainly because he played alongside Lee Carsley who did most of the tackling and donkey work and made Graveson look possibly better than he was.

If you think about it, not that many sides came in for him when he went to Madrid, and look at the price-tag, £2.5m, so he wasn't exactly out of sides price range. He never did anything at Madrid and has now gone to Celtic, I hope he does well for you, but I'm not sure he can excell in the big games. Who's he playing alongside? Lennon? He needs a ball winner next to him otherwise he tends to get found wanting.

Jarosik looked a decent player but Chelsea got rid of him to Birmingham, he didn't do a lot for them and they got relegated, so once again the jury's out.

The keeper is excellent, had a very good World Cup and certainly looks to be one of your brighter stars. His performances could be the difference between you qualifying and not.

Aye we had couple of those * too.Giving the fingers at the final whistle, laughing at the jersey saying we are not worthy to be on same pitch as United. What can you do with a whack job like that.Scrape a 3-2 and start rubbing it in.No * class like the club they support.Bunch of obnoxious *.

:87: :87: your comparing my club and fellow fans to a few knobs you seen last night?

we are not all bad, every club has an eliment of 'houlllier than tho' attitude. t'was a great game last night, played the right way by both teams. either side could have won that and the return promises to be special. just hope we have both qualifed by that time

hey Lads/laddettes the hoops:celt_2: done us proud last night, remember how Manu have been playing of late, it wasn't down to them being p!sh, it was WGS tactics that forced them to play *.

But a few points for next time:

1.Why WGS did not start with KM up with BVH?
    2.Aiden McGeady was * himself,maybe stage fright?
3.Nakamura poor poor, apart from sooperb free-kick he was sh!tbag?
4.TG tackling was immense, but * happened to his passing?
5.Telfer only player available to replace defender? why not Bobo?
6.Caldwell found out again, his positioning is shocking?
7.Atrur Boruc needs better players infront of him,he was outstanding, just aswell?
8.Will McManus & caldwell both be booted once bobo & kennedy fit?

We will go through but only because we have Boruc who saved us from embarrasement, well they did get dodgey penalty(I rewinded on my sky+ 5times....never), & two goals from TG passing:38: ,if they hadnt got penalty I reckon Celtic would have won after bringing WKM on.
