i think its the biggest game due to all the implications not just the hatred between the fans due to the religious divde but due to the fact that celtic and the cuntty chops from mordor are the only 2 teams to battle for the league title and the champions league aspect

I think Boca - River is the biggest. But after that Celtic - Rangers. Istanbul and Athen derbies are also huge, but behind Old Firm.

Once upon a time it may have been, but i think as the level of football decreased so did the the rivalry, everyone are friends outside the club divide now, on the pitch its still pretty intense though

I've been to the Steel City derby and i'd say that is easily in the top 5 in Britain and it doesn't come anywhere near the OF derby. It's head and shoulders above derbys in Britain and easily top 3 in the world, probably top because i am biased.

    Manchester derby - *
Liverpool - *, they sit together ffs.
    Arsenal v spurs - *

    Polonia/Legia
    Legia/Wisla
    Wisla/Cracoiva
    Lech v Wisla/Legia

I think the Old Firm is the biggest derby in Britain (and EIRE) however I think more of the 'non-derbies' are bigger such as United Vs. Liverpool etc. that is one game that is almost entirely pure hatred, really it depends who you talk to because I have a mate who goes to Uni in Italy and I've seen Juventus Vs. Inter (Derby of Italy) with him and that is some seriously intense shizzle!

I was staying in Krakow once beside a wisla estate and * are they passionate about their team. Anywhere you go in Krakow you see cracovia/wisla graffiti they are football nutters.

i think it's life to some people basically. I know the footy there doesn't have as great attendances but passion seems to be as good as anything

Old-Firm games have by far the most intense rivalry, you can be fine with your hun workmates for instance, but during that 90 minutes you could stick red-hot needles in their scrotes!
It's about ancient battles and practically has it's roots in the reformation of the church,* all to do with football, and the result matters more than how you get it 10 times out of 10.
We talk about winning the Celtic way and that's nice when it happens, but it goes out the window when we just want to "gerrintaethebastards".
The whole Irish question comes into it and IMO when the peace process has another 20 years under it's belt,it will probably take some of the fizz out of it.Most other derbies are about football but I will give mention to Barca-Real because there's identity differences there between Catalonia and Spain-but they don't turn to blind hatred against each other in the SAME city,at least 4 times a season.Hail Hail

I would like to think so. If we are talking about big scale rivalries YES its huge. Nothing in England compares with the old firm.
But if we are talking about less developed countries I would say no.
The atmosphere at some local rivalries in countries such as Poland etc. Make the Old firm atmosphere look like a Alcohol free, under 16 rollerblading birthday party.
Wisla Krakow vs Cracovia being one of the many insane derbies that go on elsewhere in less developed countries. But are rarely spoken of because of the calibre of football.
But the intensity and passion is up and beyond an old firm game. Just on a much smaller scale.

Definitely up there. I would say the only derbys in the world which may be ahead of it are River Plate v Boca Juniors and Fenerbache v Galatasary.
Flamenco v Flumenese in Brazil is certainly just as passionate, but I don't think that can really compare because it's more 'friendly'. I think the fans generally have a laugh and don't really fight much. But I could be completely wrong :)

i been to boca v river, besiktas v fenerbace, dortmund v schalke, st mirren v greenock morten..

the old firm means so many different things to so many different people.. it´s good v evil, oscar wilde v the queen, open mind v racist, handsome v david murray, catholic v protestant, eira/alba v england, happiness v sadness, cool kermit v the bunch of disguised idiots called powerrangers.... etc. etc.

all other is just football and some fans using pyrotechnics...:50:

Every time i see your post i think HUN :56:

I think the derby has lost most of it's respect, it's getting dragged down with the scottish game imo.

I also think it's not as big due to the poor atmosphere at games :54:

LETS JUST ROCK THE STADIUM TOMMOROW!!! :50:
