How would you get us out of this recession ??

Nobody should be allowed into the country unless the can contribute with a skill. No more hangers on.

 

wage cap on the high earners cheaper housing and living costs...more cash would be shared around....its near impossible to enjoy yourself..and you get undeserving twats like rooney and bebitov robinio and co taking 120g per week ,,most folk take 5 year to earn that..so what if its a short career so,s carpet fitting and co...taxes are wrong also,ni wrong,,ggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

There's only one way to get out of a recession by government: create jobs and lessen the start up rules for enterpreneurs.
So government should entirely focus on job creation. To keep finances healthy they should cut back on material expenses , government clerks wages and social security systems.

 

The amount of money the royal family gets wouldn't make a dent in the current deficit.

Not that I'm a fan of the royal family.

 

I agree with ye mate,but it's a * start,,nearly £45 million last year,,you could build 4 new pfi schools with that or a medium size hospital!

 

The only way to get out of the recession is to focus on creating more jobs, that's not the same as propping up failed business.

Focusing on housing in Ireland is totally pointless considering there are so many empty houses in this country as it is. According to a report in January there are 300,000 empty houses in Ireland so building more is pointless.

The government has no money so if it is to focus on creating jobs then that means something else would have to give so here's what I would do to save money so that more focus could be placed on job creation:

-reduce the size of government, it's too big we don't need as many politicians as we have (both locally and centrally)
-put a cap on politicians expenses and salary
-increase the tax on bonuses that are paid to directors of troubled businesses (mainly the banks)
-if you are an immigrant on a work or study visa but are living of benefits instead of actually working/studying then deportation
- if you are a unemployed benefits are slashed unless you do some voluntary work as this would indicate those who are unemployed but want to work and deserve all the help they can get and those who just want to skive off and live off benefits all their life with no intention of doing a day's work. Those who want to work will gladly do some volunteer work in order to get the benefits they deserve and the experience they need.
- if you are an asylum seeker then you fall into the same category as the unemployed, no volunteer work means slashed benefits again giving help to those who are down on their luck but want to be out working and contributing. By doing volunteer work it also helps those who are unemployed by giving them valuable experiences for their CV when applying for jobs.
- reduce the bureaucracy around central government, local government, the health service etc
- cut out the government spending on unnecessary trips abroad etc

the banks are worried about lending, people are struggling to get on the housing market,bankers are making millions,people are losing jobs.

while we pay thousands of money to people who dont even live here , we let just about anyone into these shores

they shut our mines down, they moved the steel works overseas,they moved our call centres to banglidesh

they are shafting our pensions,while cutting my child credit and they are going to cut child allowance

well after that i would start at our useless government "*"

Raise the minimum wage by introducing a maximum wage, spread the same amount of money further.

No work - no benefits, everyone is capable of working on some capacity. Work helps breed a self reliance & self confidence, unemplyment/benefits create or encourage a lack of confidence & reliance on others.

Re-build communities, put extra effort into building up community spirit.

I'd like to see municipal amenities made available to the tax paying public for free or a heavily discounted rate, we already pay for them via council tax/rates. Swimming pools, gyms, 5 a sides, golf courses, tennis courses etc... they are all paid for anyway. We are an unfit & unhealthy Nation, we need to encourage people to get out there & play sports, enjoy competition & meet new people...we have some pretty good municipal facilities & they charge us twice to access them...wrong!

 

There is a woman who understands economic recovery . It's a good way altough I completly disagree with job creation and saving expenses alone. There should be less rules for enterpreneurs so to lower the bar of a start up. Especially important for people on benefits so they can easily start a small busines or ex enterpreneurs who failed once can try again. You have to throw everything in the fight. Focussing on job creation is always helping your enterpreneurs. Part of that is also getting the money stream in the banks flowing because if the loans dry up the economy is dying.

Futhermore there are systems where as the government makes big investments but does not pay for them. That's the most rigorous way and fastest way of recovery. But it might have trouble passing trough the legal system. Using static money ( money on long term saving accounts ) and put that in a government bank. Where as people get their money back with interest after the crisis. Government uses money to invest in the economy but it does not cost a thing.It's the fastest but it will get alot of protest ofcourse.

Then the third option is to invest in public works but not pay for it now. So deal with the developers and let them agree upon a system where as they get their money later. The best way to economic recovery is investing but not paying for it right now but years later. But that requires some real government charisma . However the government will remain so they are a reliable partner.

 

First of all i'd lower corporation tax.We need to encourage large employers to the country.The only way to do that is to lower all taxes related to business.I don't mean massive cuts or anything.Just enough to encourage employers to set up here. Too many companies have left as taxes here are too high when they can get cheaper labour elsewhere. It's all fine saying create more jobs but to do that there has to be some sort of incentive to set up here in the first place.

I think a tax increase on any single earner on 30k+ a year would go a long way to helping.Once the economy starts to settle then lower them back to normal rates. I'm currently getting taxed a bit more than normal but i can live with that if it helps the country pull through the mess that good old labour has left us in. I don't believe the current government setup should take any flack for what they are about to do. Labour got us into this mess by allowing bankers to do what they like and allow spending to continue regardless of massive mounting debts.The bubble had to burst sometime. I feel sorry for the current government as they will be the fall guys when they have to make big changes for the better of the country.People will be up in arms about the impending cuts but they are necessary in my opinion.

I also think they should immediately deport any supposed economic migrant who has not been in employment for 6 months.I used to work for the dwp a while back and there are massive numbers of people who were initially economic migrants that went on to be benefit claimants within the first 12 months of them being here. If they aint contributing to the economy then they should be removed.
