DanniGhirl I too am a pratising Catholic and I mean to offense when I say I disagree with you. I don't think them books are Holy for 1 second actually I would say they are the opposite from Holy.
Our Religion says that Jesus Christ is * all other Religions say he was not *. There is a big , big problem there. how could I respect that and then to call that writings Holy ?
I am sure you have read the NT, but to modern people who have little knowledge of Christianity, they believe that Jesus was some sort of feel good, all loving hippy. That he was not.
Someone only needs to read The Gospel of John and Realize who Jesus was.He came to declare himself * and say he was the ONLY way.
Yes it is all about faith, but I have so much faith in him that I am willing to put all my cards on the table and take him for his word and say this is it.
Therefore the conclusion is everything else is wrong.

Someone only needs to know a little about the Koran to see where the imagination for the Koran came from. By the 6th Century when the Koran was written , Christianity had already been around for 6 hundred years. This is why there was no denial of the existence of Jesus Christ in the Koran, and by that time lets say the Era of the Virgin Mary had began. And thats why the Virgin Mary is a huge figure in the Koran. Even although she was barley spoken about in the Bible.

Lets look at Saint Catherine of Siena, who told the Pope to man up, get back to Rome and go to war with Muslims. She actually wanted to go to war herself.
Shes a Saint, and if there is one thing she never had for other religions was Respect.

We're taking this thread off topic Chris so we should just leave it there as this thread is about the burning of the Koran not the rights and wrongs of religion.

i think that a lot of people in this thread are holding back on what they really think, all this political correct stuff really does my head in.

what the mad pastor is doing is lawful, its his democratic right to do what ever he likes within the boundaries of the law,if hes not breaking any laws i don't see what anyone can moan at

hes doing what hes doing because hes fed up with all the * that goes on in the world, hes doing it to remember 9/11 ,you got to try put yourself in his position ,i for one was very angry at the 9/11 attacks ,i had mixed up feelings about what was to happen next,i didn't know if this was the start of the end of us all.

so Americans must still be angry at the 9/11 atrocities ,time heals for some but not all...if 9/11 was the end of the conflict maybe everyone could relax and get on with it but since then there has been a million other terror attacks around the world with AL qaeda taking responsibility for them all...so why should we all forgive and forget ,what the pastor is doing is not only to tell the world his feelings, but its to remember the victims ,the thousands of victims of 9/11 and i for one can see why hes doing it ,
i wish there was more guys with balls to say "enough is enough"

i don't think he will do it,but if he does i wont be condemning him

its stupid i agree,it even more stupid to fight about it or join a terror group because of it

all the world leaders have said its wrong and comdemn it.so what is there to protest about.

if it had the blessing of world leaders i could see the point..but how it could make the world a worse place than it is beyond me...if this makes people join a terror group it says more about them ,

this is where it falls down for me,i thought people were what they were because they belive in something i.e" terrorists" you dont become a terrorist because of one single nothing event or stunt

there are people protesting in edinbrugh just now.the people inside the building actually agree with the protesters..what is there to protest about then...nothing ,nothing at all

As far as I can see he is a gun toting idiot looking for some attention. It wouldn't surprise me 1 bit if he didn't give a * about the victims of 9/11.

He's just as bad as the Muslim extremists, there's no difference between the illogical hatred he is showing for a religion and the muslim fanatics and their warped interpretation of the Qur'an.

He is offending the whole Muslim religion.
Muslims take their religion very seriously, and yes some may take it to the extremes, but by burning this book,he is enciting hatred and i am sure he gets the attention he will be seeking.

The good folk of America should lead a mass protest outside this idiots ranch.

Have the white house called him up yet? I can see their problem as under the law he can claim the first amendment. Unless he agrees not to do it, I don't believe they can stop him.

Burning a holy book is no way to remember the lives who were lost. This "Pastor" Terry Jones is being disrespectful to the memories of those who lost their lives, by inciting bads feelings on what should be a day of remembrance. Terry Jones is a complete and utter bigot.

Can I firstly say that Danni from your posts I can see that you have a great faith, yet that faith allows you to understand others even if it goes against what you believe. I think that if everyone of faith had a similar view point the world would perhaps be a lot less volatile.

To all those saying that this guy is just doing as some muslims do to us, perhaps if we move away from the eye for and eye retaliation we might get somewhere in society.

I do think that the fact that this muppet has been given so much time in the limelight is crazy and is tarnishing the memory of those who perished on 9/11 as well as insulting an entire faith.

I can see a lot of posts are going down the them and us road, this is wrong and is counter productive, it is everything that this guy wants. You cannot tag all Muslims as 'them' because they are all different, some moderate some extreme in their views. As for 'us' I think for this thread alone you can see that everyone has their own individual views.

Our perception of the Islamic east is that of baying crowds burning flags and going off their nut about this, that is a tiny minority. The majority, while offended, are smart enough to know that this protest deserves no credence.
