This can only be of benefit to the Hoops, hopefully we will unearth other talent in the mould of Juarez, who looks like a decent prospect on what I've seen to date.

m8. i think you're trying to find something in what i said to take issue with. i'm not saying the mexican player is inferior to the SPL player. in fact, it's quite the contrary. however, football is absolutely not football. the style of football that's played in mexico is totally different than what is played in scotland. i'm not saying it's better or worse, just different. i'm not saying dismiss the entire league because "they'd never fit". in fact I never said what you've quoted me on. i think there might be something lost in translation. i think the mexican players would have a harder time staying fit (as in avoiding injury). that might be complete bollox (it wouldn't be the first time i was spouting off complete bollox) but it's just my impression. i'm also not saying that we should dismiss an entire league. quite the contrary. what i'm trying to say is that mexico has a perfect player for scotland in the mold of juarez. there are probably several other types of mexican players that would do well in scotland. i'm cautioning against thinking that every mexican player is just like juarez and would be a perfect match for scotland just because they are mexican. the reason why i'm saying this is because celtic have done this with other nationalities in the past and it didn't work. when you keep it in context, you and i agree completely i think you're reading a little too much into what i said

There is a big issue of work permits that I would guarantee, will not go ahead in the terms that both club are talking about when it comes to swapping players to the degree that they say.

What happened to the deal we did with the Hungarian mob that Willie McStay used to manage?
Why dont we just use scouts to watch players from all over the world and try and sign the good ones instead of doing a deal with an unknown mexican team? Just because Juarez looks the business does everyone want our team to be full of mexicans in 5 years?

I have to admit this sounds a bit strange.
I take any weird idea like this that the board has with a grain of salt.

Hello everyone, Ive only lurked until now because you guys have more than enough Mexican opinion being brought to the table already. I just read about this possible partnership between the clubs....as a Santos fan, I hope it happens. Even its just a marketing ploy to generate cash for both sides, I think the occasional friendly would be great. I could only imagine how great it would be for my team to one day show up to Celtic Park.

Our team isn't exactly known for producing talent, the team president recently visited Pep Guardiola and I think the objective is to change the current status quo. They claim that they hope to emulate some of Barcelona's youth development. A project like that will take years to produce talent but I welcome the change.

As far as possible transfers in the near future....our current squad is top of the table and playing the prettiest attacking football in the league. However, Im not sure how any of our current guys would fare. Quintero and Benitez are two very talented forwards, both are very good finishers. Benitez didn't have the most succesful spell in the EPL, but I still think he has what it takes to make it in any league. Ludueña is our creative mid, might be too slow for the scottish game, but rumors do persist about him possibly being naturalized and joining the NT. Juan Pablo Rodriguez, is a very solid holding mid, great on FKs....and not scared to kick people, but he isn't as active as Juarez. Our backline is ok....its been a weakness over the last few seasons, but it seems they've sorted it out. Guti Estrada, RB (who was voted best full back in the league) is probably our best defender, but I highly doubt he would ever make the move. Even in Mexico he is considered tiny, but he does have that Juarez like engine.

....and yes, its a facking travesty how they * out the shirt to so many sponsors.

Fairly revolutionary idea there paulie, I'm not the board want to switch from the method of standing in the middle of Glasgow airport and offering every lad who gets off a plane a contract.

I don't think the one of the top teams in Mexico are unknown, it's the strongest league in the region and one of the strongest outside of Europe.

This is just sensationalism, we've had a working partnership with Oostende in Belgium for over 3 years now, I haven't seen many Belgians in the Celtic squad so far, have you?

This is a working partnership that boosts both clubs profile within each others countries, as such we will achieve a boost within promotion of shirt sales and other merchandise in Mexico while also possibly receiving a handy first option clause with a strong team that has a proven track record in signing and developing some of the finest talent from Mexico and South America.

Aw give us a break about the comparison in talent and leagues between Scotland and Mexico, Mexico have appeared at every world cup since 1994 1998 2002 2006 2010,and scotland have appeared in 1998. I think we need to stop thinking were are this and that, look att our teams in europe were a joke, what because nobody knows much about mexico its an inferior league?,come on guys lets not get sucked into that England mentality and not wake up to what stage we are at and just discount other nations.:50:

a lot of negative people on here. whats wrong with two teams in green and white increasing their profiles, making some more money and maybe getting a player or two in years to come.

This is a great move if it comes off, a lot of the people on here who are negative to such things don't see the bigger picture and still have this celtic class mentality (which is a lot of * by the way)

The sooner people realise that moves like this are the way forward for scottish football in general (so be it it gives the likes of mexican football gets exposure but it will make our team and league better, plus generate much needed money through future transfers to EPL or european clubs)

Lets face it our bhoy efrain juarez wont be here when he's 28 and at his peak but i do hope we get a good few years from him and then sell him on for a tidy mcgeady profit and by that time have a few others progressing like him.

Anyway a lot of celtic fans are still stuck in this 1960's 70's european cup winning mentality but they need to wake up coz our league is poor and our team in european terms over the past few years is poor as well....Any steps to change this are good

It's Lawwell up to his old tricks, he's trying to sell more jerseys. Let's face it, what's in for this Mexican team to send their best players to Scotland while we send them our kids, absolutely nothing.

seen a few posts on here most good about this deal, i feel it's a good deal, if it helps celtic sell shirts in mexico, then am all for it, mean more money for celtic and means a better squad if, thats if the manager gets the money

some people have said oh lawwell this lawwel that just afyer shirt sales, am not a fan of the man far from it but what do you want him to do? set a stall up at the barras and try and sell more shirts down the gallowgate?

whats wrong with upping our profile in mexico, and down the line if we get a good player from it, also to the work permit thing if like juarez they have been playing for mexico for so many games it won't be a problem, so that answers that for who ever asked or had a wee moan at

also to the poost above, if we send players over to mexico and they send us young players it open's there eyes to a bigger picture to a new language and new culture and a new style of football, both youngsters can learn things over a few months, since they can get a visa in scotland for a few months

so your absolutely nothing comment is just madness

    Understatement of the year.

In an increasingly smaller and closer world, forming bonds in different continents in order to get better players and increase revenue streams is the clever thing to do.

But nah Mexican's are * and their strip is covered in sponsor's
