Cant really see Thommo giving up his nice little wage package for a move to the Championship personally.

Cheers Big L, its not as if we need another free-kick taker but he looks as if he can strike a ball. If his defending is as good as he hit that we're laughing! :50: :shamrock:

When was the last time a Championship player was a sucess at Celtic Park?
Another Wonder kid (Sorry Man he is 26) like Virgo maybe, but we paid 3 times the price for Virgo, jokeshop! Wallace is every bit as good as this guy and is more open to improvement. We should go to Austria for a LB, there league is in the financial toilet, if rangers can sign internationals for next to nothing why can't we!

What i am saying is, we could have any LB in Austria for the same money as Naylor. Surely in there entire money ravaged league there is a LB better that another Championship quality player. We have 11 scouts under Ray Clarke, Have they ever looked in Austria?

the only reason austria springs to mind is coz the hunz have signed 2... but for all we know they could be / turn out to be flops... personally id look further afield ..ie .. nigeria/ ghana/ african countries ... theres some right players in those countries just finding them is the key.

Good point! Austria is an example of this, there must be a better option for under 1 mill in the world even america, than another championship quality player!

well i watched ivory coast even in the WC ... and they have some real quality players in thier side... and the only one who i thinkw as at a big club at the time was Drogba... so theyre deffo players out there for grabs.imo.id deffo look outside britain tho as we are only gonna get championship players probably at best... most premiership stars wont come near spl.

    imminent

Mick McCarthy has admitted that Lee Naylor's transfer to Celtic is now imminent.

Talking to the clubs officxial site he said :

'I think we are at a stage where we have got a deal that's acceptable.'

Lee is the club's longest serving player, and is fast approaching his testimonial year, but with a risk of him leaving next season on a Bosman, Mick McCarthy has taken the option of a cash return for the player who has never given less than 100% for the Wanderers cause.

'I've said all along that Lee leaving is not what I wanted to happen but with the player out of contract at the end of the season it's probably good business sense.'

Not long ago, the loss of yet another player from the dressing room would have seemed disastous, but its a measure of the good work laid down by McCarthy in his first few weeks at Molineux that there are now enough players willing, and able to step into the outgoing left backs boots for it not to have a negative impact on the side.

'And it's probably good team sense as well. When you've got a player who has done great for the club, if someone comes in for him and he gets that opportunity, I fully understand his desire to move on to fresh pastures.' McCarthy added

'He's had a good innings here and done well for the club so I've no problem with that and, as we proved on Saturday, if somebody leaves then someone else comes in and plays.'

Ther are mixed feelings about Lee Naylors departure. Many thought that he may go his entire career as a one club man, a rareity in the modern game.

But when the likes of Celtic come calling, and the promise of Champions League football, even the most commited player would find temptation hard to resist.
