if we give him a chance then it could well end up being a financial disaster come the end of the season.

going by the new lb debut against the well i doubt he will have many chances at LB anyway

When players are running at him its like his feet are nailed to the ground!! Can't see him getting a game ahead of Izaguirre anyway.

he has been utter pish, but if you look at it in a different way, he can only get better

he is a squad player he may come good lets see how he gets on this season

Never rated him at a * Aberdeen team. The guy can't defend and always tackles with the wrong foot. He may be able to hit a free kick but any free kick he has hit for us has been * poor, accept the one against ICT, but even that was a basic save for the keeper. I will support the guy but he really isn't good enough. If he came up against Weiss then he would get ripped to shreds.

I disagree. That guy Haye's (i think his name was) looked like he had the beating of him every time.

I think we hope he gets better with better players. Shame he was a wee * when he was first here, he could have actually been a good player. But he is total gash at defending. Positional sense is terrible and he stutters on the ball too mcuh to play in a team that play fluent football.
Tbh, for the last 5 years we have not had full backs who can actually defend. Was on the list, we've signed 3, 2 of which from what i've seen can't defend and i've not seen teh Honduran lad yet.
back to Mulgrew, hope he can improve and adapt to playing for a big club. Not holding my breath though

Cant see it working out here he cant * defend to save his life and ive saw better players in the 1st div that can defend , his dead ball skills are all he has to offer and thats not a good enough excuse to bring him here .

Would have been better off just using Carey ,

I don't reckon he's as bad a player as some are making out.

His delivery into the box, for example, is excellent.

I don't think it can be denied he had a couple of shockers in preseason, but that's not the end of the world. Comes into the "decent backup" category for me.

The bloke isnt the best lb, but he was brought in for free in my eyes in case we werent able to sign a class lb. Hes just a squad player, and hopefully the competetion with emilo will drive him to be a better player, (or even misun to become a regular lb). As ive said many times in the suggestions thread, id have liked david carney to be signed though, hes a great lb and can play in the mids, except blackpool just signed him, and we got emilo whos a great player. Fans should get behind charlie though, regradless of his faults, hes plays for celtic, and all the players lift when they are heavily backed by the fans

I Feel a bit sorry for mulgrew, as his fate had already been decided before he had started playing!

i don't believe he is the best defender alothough he isn't the worst. i just wish some people would stop making him out to be a tolat fud, he can't be any worse then lee naylor or braffheid! :31:

What I can't stand is that for while we have had full backs that simply can't do the basic defending duties correctly, Mulgrew, Hinkel, Naylor and Wilson were all okay going forward, but as defenders they were poor.

We need defenders that defend well first and foremost, anything else that they can contibute is great and a bonus, but gents, please do your defensive duties first.
