The real answer is, it's impossible to tell.

The money we get in by selling players and spend on new players is a combination of
    1) Contract buyout money - i.e. how much we pay the club for the transfer
    2) Signing-on fees - i.e. how much we pay the player for the transfer
    3) Total wages over the length of the contract

Since the signing-on fees and player wages are hardly ever made public, there is no reliable way for us to know how much money has gone out and how much has come in.

For example, if we had four extra players on our wage bill as compared to last season, each of them on 25K a week - then that accounts for 5 million quid over this year, or 20 million if you reckon it over a four-year contract.

We have no way of isolating "the McGeady money" from the rest of our ins and outs, or seeing how much of it has been spent yet, as we can only see the contract buy-out portion, which is less significant than the wage bill.

I'm told however that both the Majstorovic and Izaguirre transfers were dependent on McGeady leaving; which would mean that yes, part of that money has already been accounted for.

Another factor is that - on a transfer of that size (9 million) it would not be at all unusual for the deal to include a sweetener from the selling club (Celtic) to the player (McGeady) to encourage him to leave. Especially if the deal involved a move to a country he might not want to live in (like Russia). So we could - for argument's sake - already have shelled out a seven-figure sum to the player to make it happen. This is not even mentioning agent's fees etc.

Which is why there's no point in jumping to conclusions about how much money is currently available for other players. As fans, we honestly don't know.

Lennon said he hoped to be getting all the cash from the Mcgeady transfer. Didn't hear anyone from above come out to back that statement up.

I thought it was a case of Lennon saying that HE had made it clear to the board that he expected any transfer $ would go right back into the team.. perhaps as a condition to him taking the position as manager.

We only need one more player Imo. Either a 6 million pound proven defender, or a 6-9 million pound proven goalscorer.

Wishful thinking that we will spend that on a player though.

Unless we get a very good bosman signing, I'll be very disappointed if we don't spend this money.

i think some fans expect to see us shell out 10m on buying new players, contracts for big Danny and honduran will probably account for 25k per week in wages and honduran's club are to be paid about 600k.

yes he went into detail but did we not get rid of 12 players and now have got 10 players in? also we got rid of top earners at parkhead, and we got a bit of money for all the other players who left the club.....

lennon said he is expecting all that money, but i think they board is not gona give him it all mabe 2m-3m max and probs wait till jan time, i hope this is not the case and we get in a ST who will bag us 20-30 goals a season ive said this a few times now over the past week or so, hooper is out and it's 6 weeks and will probs be 8-9 weeks total before he is match fit, thats a long time, we don't have an other ST who has hit 20 goals at the club in a long time (talking about the other 3 forwards)

lets see whats gona happend in the next few days of the window

We are still looking to move on players, before we bring any more in - according to Lenny.

I think the Board will want to put a bit by to reduce the debt, to account for no CL & reduced season tickets etc...

I reckon most if not all of the "McGeady money" will be spent, or at least allocated.

We'd have been right in the * * if Aiden had stayed.

The players Lennon has brought so far have'nt cost a fortune so it can be done so i agree with you you dont have to go splashing out millions on one player ,there is talent out there waiting on there chance .

the thing with a 5-8 million pound signing is that no one has seemed to take into account wages etc. £5mil signing, plus wages = £7/8mil. Our range is roughly 3-4 million so that wages and fees can be paid as well.
But if we were to spend 5-6 on one player he better a * good one, (preferably a goalscorer).
