Dempsey Celtic have a world wide fan base, and they go to the games in Scotland and elsewhere, the fans also spend on merchandise etc. those negative people are taking in more money than they are spending and thats from a ratio standpoint.
So Dempsey * off with your nausiating apologetic point of view, Celtic should be going forward, and since 2000 they are NOT doing that.

pompey and charlton arent in the champs league true every season ... but i think the sky tv. deal and premiership ... eacha and every club in the epl gets 10m or so at the start of the season maybe more... then with placed in the league etc each season make more... mega rich in the premiership. cant compete. end of.

Dont Qualify for the Knockout Stage?

Prizemoney, CL TV Revenue, Gate Receipts, id reckon £8-10M, would be very close to the mark.

We didnt qualify for CL last year, did you think that would not come back to bite us in the form of a crap transfer budget?

The differences cannot be ignored, our large fanbase has us punching above our weight for a number of years

I understand that ...but it is guaranteed income and we have to buy quality players some time so why not now ..rangers made £16m from their run last season.....if we get £10m from c/l...5/6 from petrov.....surely to * they will spend it on the team ....its imperative we win the league again to keep the money and momemtum going so we have to start taking a gamble ...we are at a critical juncture now and its not the time to be holding back...what we do now will affect us for years...weve never been so well placed to go through to the knock out stages...but we need the team to do it

I agree that this season is critical, without a doubt. I would like to see them take that approach but I'm not running the show. :)

The SPL is more important this season simply because we get CL cash this season anyway and we are focussing on the debt to be eliminated soon aswell, we could get into a great positon to buy big next season.

When we lost out on the CL last season, I knew we'd go through this transfer budget crap.

great we give other clubs a lot of cash by bringing a big support to their grounds. how does this help us buy players? :87:
also how much do you think we actually make from shirt sales? cos i would doubt it would finance one "celtic class" signing taking into account transfer fee, signing on fee, agents fee and wages over maybe a three year contract. i could very well be wrong but its gonna take a * of a lot of £40s to cover a £4million plus transfer and wages of 20grand a week for 3 years. people really need to start accepting that unless sky decide that the spl is the next big thing we're gonna be severely restricted in the transfer market

can i also say that this is the most pathetic no make that embaressing thread i've seen on this site! we're in the champions league group stages have just won the league and have played poorly (admittedly absolute *) in one competitive game, we brought in a quality midfielder and have got rid of some of our highest earners who were either bit part players, keane, or didn't fit with the style of play, hartson, theres 3 weeks till the transfer window shuts and people are actually calling for the managers head? really is quite unbelievable!!!

on the other hand being linked with guys like naylor really does show up the boards claims of venegoor and the ukrainian after the man utd game for the blatant attempt to divert attention from how poor that performance was.

I personally think Strachans Bringing us down his relegation fighting atitude isnt right for a team like cletic who r meant to win everygame and because he won the league last yr doesnt make him a good manager everybody knows it was a poor rangers team last yr.
its not the players that we'r bringing in thats the problem its the sh*te we cant get rid of thats keeping us back, strachan has let go too many big players and kept his favourites that are no good, ,,, hes let go sutton, agathe, hartson and doesnt play thommo who has been an important part of our winning sides no matter the quality of oppositon, while he keeps playing the likes of telfer, lennon, zurawski, who r all playing under the standard we should expect for celtic hes brought in some good players too like naka, boruc and jarosik but we definatly need a big signing that will raise our name in europe because right now anybody in the champions league will fancy a pop at us as we have no stars that stick out any more like larsson, hartson, sutton, keano, lubo, theres no one like that at celtic park any longer.
me personally, i think strachan has no ambition.

I find it strange that you call Keane a bit player. a) He played when fit b) we only pulled away after christmas, when he was here c) He was one of our best performers. The term, bit player, is used for players like Virgo, Lawson, Pearson, players that actually only did a bit.

he only ever played 12 games for the club! i don't understand how people can claim that hes a massive loss as he was here what 6 months and was never really fit enough to hold down a regular place.

You should read what people who know something about soccer say about Keane, before making comments like that, he would have been vital for CL this season, he won MOM in 6 of those games and was our 2nd best player in the others. This is stupid to put down a WC player who was known worldwide to be one of the best midfielders in the world for the last 12 years.

Give Strachan a break someone, is two trophies in a season not good enough for you?

The man done fantastically last season. OK he's made a couple of bad signings but so did O'Neill.
