    Meanwhile, Stuttgart striker Daniel Ljuboja remains a definite option for Celtic if the SPL champions fail to match Dutch hitman Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink's wage demands.

    But Serbian international Ljuboja is also holding out for more cash after turning down a first contract offer from the Parkhead club last week.

    Celtic agreed a £2million fee with Stuttgart, who have forced Ljuboja to train with the youths and warned him he will be frozen out of the game if he doesn't move before the transfer window closes.

    Record Sport understands Celtic offered Ljuboja significantly more than the one million euros a year he currently earns.

    The 27-year-old's package, which included additional win bonuses and sizeable appearance fees, would have brought him into line with Celtic's highest earners.

    But the bumper deal and guarantee of Champions League football is not enough to entice Ljuboja to Scotland, much to the annoyance of both Celtic and Stuttgart, so the deal remains in limbo.​

    This money-grabbing does my nut in. Its not as if the guy was being offered a giro to play for us, if the move falls through and the guy has to play reserve football for two years, i say say ha-*-ha, maybe it will put things into perspective about how much he is valued and respected. No need for greed :38:

    Why would we want a player like this? He's just another little * like Ashley Cole or William Gallas. How long before he gets fed up with Celtic?
    BTW, if we buy this guy, we won't be buying JVOH.

    I think JVOH is the first choice signing, Ljuboja is the back up signing in case JVOH doesnt sign but i wouldn't want this lad either way by the sounds of it

    Skysports are reporting that we are stil chasing this guy. I think we will probably drop our interest in him now that JVOH has signed but it would be pretty interesting if he did still sign given that we would have a lot of options up front. WGS likes to set up his team to score goals rather than keep a clean sheet so I wouldn't be surprised if they brought this guy in. If he is cheap and free then I don't see why not.

    Dont need him now, especially since we have to get Riorden some minutes in for the sake of continued development... I heard he was brought in for midfield, he wont see a minute there if Stan stays and McGeady/Maloney/Sno/Lennon on the bench waiting. If Riorden plays, I think it will be up front as a late sub....

    Edit: Throw Pearson in there aswell...
