    Shay Given to join:
    Arsenal 4/6
    Celtic 5/4
    Aston Villa 5/1
    Leicester City 10/1
    Norwich City 16/1

At the moment looks like it's between us and Arsenal, an advantage we have over Arsenal is I'm sure last season they didn't want to sell to any of their rivals, hopefully that put's us in a strong position

Given was in the Bot in Belfast last night, alot of people today saying that he said Celtic was the only place where he wanted to go. Make of it what you will but i've heard the same thing being said from about 6 different people.. :50:

He wants to come here, we'd be mad to turn him down, City don't want to sell to a competitor. The only obstacle is money.

Which unless DD funds this himself, is a pretty big obstacle.

    He's beyond our means.

Unless there's some serious financial trickery afoot, I can't see this deal being anything other that hot air.

But GK is our main concern at the Club, if we sign a player of this quality in an all important area, it will really send a signal to the fans & other Clubs, that we really mean business.

Live & hope. :87: But not holding my breath.

i think if shay was to come? then i think he would take a wage cut no problem! as long as he is no1 and playing thats all he wants.

If Given wants this move that bad he should take a pay cut he has been picking up 70/80 k a week at City for doing * all , he should be happy enough to come and play here for 25/30k a week .

I'm sure I would come for quarter of my wages.

    After I've told my wife.
I would now be recovering in hospital.

Playing for the team you love does not:

Pay the private schools for the kids.
    Buy the new mansion.
Buy the new Mercs every 6 months.
    Buy the luxury holidays.

    CASH does.

Not happy to say this, but it's a fact.

Exactly, plus he's basically made his money being at City the last few years. So if he really is a massive Celtic fan he will gladly take a wage cut to get 1st team football and play for his boyhood heroes.
I'll guess we'll see if he wants to come or not soon enough.

Arsenal can offer him 3 times what we can.

Don't get me wrong, I would love him to come here.

    But................................................................?

I think it's safe to say that Shay has made more than enough money over his career to be able to do all those things.

If he's a Celtic fan he'd come here, the * has been on no less than 70k a week for about 8 years now. He's got enough money to do all those things, otherwise he's really pish with money...

But aye you're quite the optimist aren't you, wouldn't like to be with you in a crisis...

Been saying for months i'd prefer Westwood over given for 3 reasons....the difference in wages, Westwood is on a bosman plus if we went for Westwood we'd get more years out of him, or at the very least a much better price if we were tempted to sell.

If we ended up with Given though i would still be a happy chappy.

Well that's what you'll have to put up with because the only time Sammybobo ever seems to post is directly after the worst games of the season.
