whats the point of this thread ....? we already have a captain till seasons end ....and as for jarosik ..hes played his first competitive game for us and you want him to be captain? ..away back and play with your playstations little boys ..or come up with some sensible conversation.

 

Lennon is captain and fits the bill best as he's Celtic through and through and a leader. Failing that, it has to be McManus. I'm not a fan of the keeper as captain, especially when Celtic are playing against 11 defenders!

Agreed, he was Captain in all but name on the pitch V Killy as he was getting after people for not doing there jobs and leading by example himself.

 

Petrov should be given the captaincy in Lennon's absence, which will be a regular occurrence this season.

 

is this the same Petrov that wants Away ... if u gave him captaincy he still want new challenge i dont think that would have matter tbh ?... if we can i would keep him if hes gonna see sense and buckle down quality player theres no disputing that side ... but if he still want to go . get him punted now.for as much as we can... i just wish this whole thing with petrov would end... Either he stays or he goes.. its not good for the club imo.. get this sorted out asap Celts please.. i personally think he may be sold in this window still but who knows.. it would take for me Petrov to make an Announcement himself or to a Newspaper and say i was wrong i made a mistake i love celtic ..i want to stay at Glasgow Celtic and give my All fight in champs league etc....to endear himself to all fans then i would probably make him our captain ... i just dont understand this.. no point in rotting at the bottom of the premiership. with no champs league ever...would be the stupidest career move ever if he does leave tho.

Well Neil Lennon is obviously the Celtic Captain and has made a very good job of things last season as far as I am concerned in terms of being a Celtic Captain. Considering the evil hatred directed at him from all corners I think the man is a model pro, and a model Celtic Captain.

Now again obviously Lennon is in his last season before he either retires altogether or before he moves to a smaller team to finish his career. So who the Celtic Vice Captain this season is an important decision for Strachan as the expectation would be that then this person would become the Celtic Captain next season when Lennon steps down.

To me Stillian Petrov was the obvious man to step in as the next Celtic Captain and indeed Petrov was vice Captain last season. But naturally given Petrov's status in wanting to leave that would not be the way to go anymore. Although as has been suggested maybe part of changing Petrov's mind could be the giving to him of the Celtic Captain's role. You never know. Look at Joey Barton down at Manchester City. Minds can change.

So for me my ideal choice would be Stillian Petrov. If Petrov remains for the off then I do not see any obvious choices. Stephen McManus would get my vote if Petrov is a no go with Artur Boruc coming into consideration as well.

Boruc Mcmanus or Petrov(should he stay) are the only real people who should b considered for captain. Personally petrov would b my choice

How does Lennon deserve it? You lead by example and Lennon doesnt do anything but walk around.

 

With a bit of luck and improvement on his game, I think McManus will be captain.

 

Boruc or possibly even Wilson. Boruc is a tremendous shot stopper, often plays as a sweeper, and screams at our defence when it does something wrong (hope he doesnt' lose his voice). Wilson's not the loudest player, but leads by example, is young, and Celtic daft.
