Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp insists he will not increase his £5million bid to bring Hoops midfielder Stilian Petrov to Fratton Park.
The Bulgarian international is desperate to get away from Parkhead but Redknapp believes Celtic have priced themselves out of a deal.

The Pompey boss told the Scottish Sun: "As far as I'm aware Celtic have turned down our £5million bid and I think that's it over.

"I couldn't honestly recommend to the club to pay any more for the boy.

"I have a high regard for Petrov's talent and I'd have been delighted to have signed him, but enough is enough.

"I believe we were the only club in for Petrov and I reckon Celtic might find it difficult getting better money than that."

Harry Redknapp is ready to accept defeat in his pursuit of Stilian Petrov after Celtic rejected his last, and, seemingly final bid for the midfielder.
Bulgaria international Petrov was always one of Redknapp's primary summer targets but while the South Coast outfit are very much cash-rich at present, they have experienced real troubles in recruiting fresh talent.
The Pompey chief had thought his latest offer of £5 million would be enough to snare the attack minded schemer, but his bid has fallen on deaf ears in Glasgow.
Petrov is desperate to quit Celtic Park but having had a transfer request turned down and with Portsmouth not willing to up the ante, he could face a frustrating time this season.
''As far as I'm aware Celtic have turned down our £5 million bid but I think that's it over,'' Redknapp told the Scottish Sun.
''I couldn't honestly recommend to the club to pay any more for the boy.
''I have a high regard for Petrov's talent and I'd have been delighted to have signed him, but enough is enough.
''I believe we were the only club in for Petrov and I reckon Celtic might find it difficult getting better money that that.''

    Ziga better than Petrov

In fairness to Redknapp and Mandaric, Ziga of Crevna Zvezda would be a better catch, though he may cost more than £5000000.

Oh well, quite disapointed that Stan won't be going. Personally I wanted him to go and get relegated and admit he made the biggest mistake of his career. Hopefully someone else will meet our valuation of him before this transfer window closes.
