Hello fellow bhoys and ghirls. looks like a very well setup forum. Im Pal from antrim town in northern irleland. Just been dying to make a point but celtic's latest transfer speculation. to be honest it baffles me it really does that the celtic hierarchy think that someone like Dion Dublin( no disrespect to the big man who did do an ok job last season) can help celtic compete in the Champions League. I mean he struggled to find the net for leicester never mind teams like Barcelona or Chelsea. Iknow Gordon Strachan has been given limited funds this year but i think its time that the fans stood up and demanded that more transfer fees should be given. Celtic supporters arent daft. i mean where is the estimated £10million going for getting itno the champions league?? the money from the biggest sale of an away kit of all time?? the 50 odd thousand dedicated supporters who pay for season tickets, plus celtic tv, the celtic view and the latest online features at celticfc.net?? to be honest its just making the main men like brian quinn and dermot desmond richer. People keep saying about we dont get the same tv revenue as down south, but even so, surely we can compete with Charlton Athletic for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink?? i mean the man really wanted to come but from what i hear the dispute was only over an extra couple of grand a week. Surely a man of his experience and goalscoring record is surely worth that? I mean the man didnt even command a transfer fee. yes i think Gordon is doing the best he can but why dont celtic free up more funds. oh yes not to forget money from sky for the champions league this year. i mean we spent more last year and we didnt have any champions league funds. To be honest i really feel like not funding the club officially any more as it is a disgrace and utter disgrace that celticfc one of the biggest names in world football can't spend a couple of million pounds. also wee javier saviola brilliant in the world cup, deemed surplus to requirements!! if bolton can be in for him then surely we can. i know we neeed a target man but people of his quality should be at the club. we need a forward, one with pedigree, an established left back and another central midfielder to replace petrov. please get back to me, i would like to know if anyone is feeling the same, or if im just losing the plot, im pulling my hair out lol:31:

All the best, keep well my friends,
    Paul:celt_2:

    Welcome to the site Paul.

Quinn only gets paid £30,000 a year so I don't think its fair to give him stick financially. We spent just under £8m last year and we have spent £2m on Jarosik so thats £10m GS has spent. Which isn't bad.

The wage bill eats up all our money, especially considering no European football last year. Celtic recieved only 2.5m from TV revenue last year while Man Utd picked up over £40m! So it's tough to compete financially. Everton's strike force cost £15m yesterday!

The petty nature we do our dealings does irritate me as if GS really wanted Kadlec then the board should have did everything in their power to give their manager the resources he needs. Yet they still didn't pay that extra few hundred grand.

Lawell has stated that we will sign 3 first team players before the transfer window shuts. I will judge the strength of the squad then. Keep the faith.

How are you mate? Yes you talk sense but do you not think that celtic are very cagey in the transfer market. I mean to be honest i think we were capabale of hanging on to bellmay. It ended up he only cost £4million when he went to blackburn, and hartson was quoted of saying that bellmay wanted to stay but the board wudnt come up with the funds. Now look at him, even better than what he was with us. i mean i dont mean
to sound nasty but with £10million for just being in the champions legaue i think we can afford a forward of some pedigree??:shamrock:

    cheers

We are in a period of down-sizing. That is the reality of it. Our wage budget was to big a percentage of our annual turnover and that is being brought down. There simply is little money in the market if you ignore the English money which is being funded by sugar daddies and Sky. We are to petty yes, if we weren't we would have had Hartley a few years ago but we would only bid £350,000 when they wanted £500,000.

However, as for spending big money, I don't want us speanding money we don't have. £100K is 170 odd season ticket holders. We should speculate to accumulate but we can't go over the top.

    Hello there.

How's it going lads ?? Tis a grand site.
Just wanted to say a word about Paul's post earlier on.Completely understand the frustration really do but i think it's a bit unfair to single out
quinn and Desmond.Dont reckon either is in it for the cash.I mean Des is in process of selling City of London airport for 500 mill if rumours are to be believed, and if Jimmy Floyd was so eager to come surely he could have lowered his demands remember this is the lad who walked out on Leeds and threw one or two strops at boro as well.Good riddance i reckon. And can anyone imagine Saviola @ Pittodrie in January can't see it meself.I think Lawell knows what he is doing and is a good bloke with Hoops best interest at heart, can't be held to ransom by a couple of mercenaries who are here for one last payoff and you never know there might be a surprise signing yet.Everton performance a lot better altho need to be creating more chances without a doubt. Anyway cheers for letting me speak.
    Keep the faith

Your straight into a debate. You dont hang around. I agree with waht Murphy is saying. Some dealings will annoy us but the long term big picture they are chasing will be worth it and they dont want to drag it out either.
