What Do We Do With Petrov?!?

I don't think it's good for the squad to have a guy on 40 grand and the rest on half of that. This is why we are struggling to attract top quality we can't afford the wages.

 

The reason he signed an extension was to ensure Celtic get some money for him. Now, I just can't believe that there isn't a selling on clause in his contract. ie that Celtic have to release him if a certain offer comes in. I would have thought that would be between £5m and £6m. The problem is, that his stock appears to have gone down with no CL football last season and no WC appearance. In addidition, rather than continue his sparkling form at the beginning of last season, he got disillusioned. Now, he's throwing captain's arm bands to the ground and has either lost form or the will to play for Celtic. It's his own fault. He should'nt have signed the contract and put himself in the shop window with consistnetly good displays.

Well to me this is why I question often, the people that are running the club, they have fukced this one up too!
Big time! But thats ok, more friendly games and exhibitions will bring the great Celtic support to fill the coffers.

Tell the little * to honor his contract and play his way to a better transfer fee. * and moaning has made his value drop.

 

Maybe you should go support a non-profit club, if you can find one. We'll make, worst case scenario, €10M when all is said and done. We'd make that by winning the SPL

You seem to be able to spot every flaw but have never offered a better solution to any problem at Celtic. So how would of handled the Petrov situation better?

 

We need 2 sell petrov cause he wants 2 go the main problem is 2 many poor displays last year has left him with only portsmouth wanting 2 sign him he should have done himself a favour last season and burst a gut for us on the park then he would probably already have the move he so much wants.

 

I think Celtic were very wise in getting him to sign an extended deal. I was certainly suprised as it put's us in the driving seat. I think Celtic are doing the right thing. They are letting him stew. Eventually a decent bid will come in. Clubs begin to panick as it gets closer to the deadline. If it doesn't then he has signed to 2008 and I don't think Stan is stupid enougth to turn down the chance to play in the CL, not to mention put his international captaincy at stake by sitting on the bench for 2 seasons.

 

Interesting that you mention that. When this first came out, Petrov stated that he signed the new deal so Celtic would be able to command a good fee for him and he signed the deal expecting Celtic to respect his wishes to leave the club. His thinking has fell flat on its *

Celtic bosses doesnt want loosing such quality.

I would want al least 5 mill for him , but in the mean time I don't believe it's benifiting the team by allowing him to play

I have watched the New England game again and honestly Petrov worked very hard for the team and his sharpness was good. Unless we get at least 6 or 7 mill as Lawell has said he is going nowhere. * Harry and his drug money, they are offering millions to teams they have respect for.
