Bolton's pre-season friendly with Rangers at the Reebok Stadium on 25 July has been cancelled on the advice of Greater Manchester Police

he official reason given by the local match commander was that not enough officers would be available on the day. "It is with deep regret that, on the advice of Greater Manchester Police, it has been cancelled on the grounds of safety," said a Bolton statement.
Rangers said they were "astonished", having previously had police approval.

It would only happen to Rangers, not enough officers to cope with their thugs

I see the the police checked with police forces all over England about the Huns visits there over the last 10 YEARS, must have left a good impression!!!! I wonder will the usual suspects jump on the bandwangon again, going on about both half of the Old Firm being just as bad as each other, without actually looking at the records of both sets of supporters.:31:I know it will never happen but I'd love to get rid of the term 'The Old Firm'.It just puts into people minds, who don't know both teams, that we're just as bad as each other.

    I don't have one
Actualy it's not because Rangers fan are 'thugs'... It's because Rangers were given 5,000 tickets and more than 12,000 people are expected to be traveling down in hope of getting a ticket at the game. For health and safety laws the police would be required to have 'x' amount of officers and Greater Manchester Police can't provide that many at this time of year, also something about the facilities not being suitable...

Rangers fans cause trouble and that law is the first thing that would be shoved in the Chief Supt. face when half the city gets wrecked. They are hooligans.

You would never see a Celtic game cancled because of a lack of police. So the Gers are known everywhere for there bad temper.

Also Rangers fans were fighting with Bolton fans while in Porto last season do you think that might have anything to do with it?

AYe they certainly seem to have a bad element and especially when they travel to games outside of Scotland! Good enough for them!
