Up for it, suggests to me someone willing to put in a shift when it is tough. Nothing I have seen to suggest that this would describe Samaras. 3 pre season penalties are fairly meaningless. I still say we sell him asap.

He's our best striker, he's absolutely chronic! For being 6'4 he's got the power of a wet tissue, can't win a header and has never performed in an Old Firm game. I'd easily have £2M in the bank than this clown running around for another year or more. 2 penalties in pre-season won't make up for the next 10 games when he serves up nothing but * sandwiches. Give Ras a chance and get this mug out.

would this 1 last chance be based on his good preseason form?
if so, why would we be fooled by something like a couple of good games? surely we've learned that is what he does.

Rubbish, remember after last year, he was one of the only players after the Ross County defeat to take the abuse, answer some questions and sign autographs. I think he loves the club, which is beyond me given the abuse he takes before other underachieving players.

I do doubt (as mentioned by someone else earlier) his footballing brain though. Bags of natural talent but looks unsure of how to use it.

I'd say keep him, one last season, see what he can do. He's not a massive drain on the finances and he can contribute.

He is frustratingly inconsistent, but unless we get another striker in ASAP I wouldn't be for selling any of them, if Sammy can get a run of form then he can be useful for us.

As Idlewildered said, I don't know why he seems to love the club considering the abuse he gets but he certainly appears to anyway. However, loving the club isn't enough, he has the talent as well he just doesn't show it on a consistent enough basis, but like I said unless we get another striker in we can't afford to get rid of any of the current ones imo.

this is what i said in another post i dont see sammy as a striker more of a winger he certainly can breeze past players easily and links up well we need a goal scorer in the team for sammy to supply and imo fortune is not that man.

Not read this whole topic so might be repeating whats already been said, but Killen had a great pre season last year, he was still pish when all was said and done, Sammy has been given plenty of chances, if we get anywhere near 2m for him he should be punted in a second

    SAMMY MUST STAY.

AN INTERESTING FACT - He has scored more old firm goals than Keane. We must keep him

That's about as interesting as hearing someone's just taken a *.

Keane played two OF games one of which he wasn't even nearly fit.

i cant believe rassa's not getting a game! hes the perfect poacher and from little weve seen of him, is by far better than all weve seen of MAF.

Sammy can breeze plast players but fails on his finishing touch....not what ya want infront of goal.

on topic, i still say keep him

If this is the new improved sammy that has been booted up the * from Lennon hemust be kept if it's only a flash in the pan he will leave pretty sure Lennon knows what sammys attitude towards having a future at Celtic is

Is this not the same attitude we had at the beginning of last season when he scored against Dinamo Moscow. We thought he was back to his best again and scoring goals and then all of a sudden he went back to the Sammy that dithers on the ball and misses loads of chances.

Actually between Summer and Christmas Sammy went on to be on a par with Scot McDonald for goals per game. Not the kind of striker we need to be chucknig right now.

It was after Christmas when the entire team imploded that Samaras' goal-scoring record went to *, then he started getting played on the left wing etc etc. Shouldn't really be judging too many people at the second half of last season or else we should bin everyone.

I agree. Judging by this poll, Sammy is undervalued by a third of the fans who want rid of him asap - the other two thirds are grudgingly giving him a "second chance" only - this is hardly a ringing endorsement or encouragement from fans for their player. If this "support" is reflected in the stands at Paradise then i don't think Sammy should continue at our club because NO PLAYER can play well consistently in an atmosphere where your "fans" want rid of you and where one small mistake will be met with a chorus of boos and moans.

Sammy time to move on son, no matter how hard you try, there's no pleasing some neaderthals. After your World Cup performance (where you practically held the line ALONE up front against Argentina and had a blinding game against Nigeria), i'm sure there are many more appreciative clubs who would take you to their heart and give you the support and trust you deserve.

People need to realise that every players' form comes and goes - if a player has a dip in form then it's the perfect time to SUPPORT a player through this dip and not do the opposite i.e. get on his back because he's not playing well. Even when Sammy is playing well and scoring, his improvement in form is downgraded by many "fans" and all manner of excuses are found to not give him the credit he deserves e.g. "it's only a pre-season friendly", "he's playing for a move", etc... when in fact, he has proved that HE LOVES OUR CLUB and he is worthy of our support, by taking the flak after Ross County debacle (signed auto and faced press when other players ran home and hid), he turned down going to a better league in a better climate and environment (Primera League with Hercules), he plays in front of a consistently abusive crowd i.e. his OWN FANS at his HOME ground but still manages to score a hatful of goals....

Time to move Sammy, go somewhere where you'll be appreciated....at least you'll be supported by your own fans rather than booed and abused at your home ground...good luck son.
