to me the best band in the past 10-15 must be able to make my heart jumping, to reach and touch it.

a few bands have been successfull in doing that.

one band still does it whenever i listen to them.

    SOILWORK

U2 were on top of their game during joshua tree-zooropa(zooropa came out in 93!) now they're are just going back to their boring pub-rock standard of under a blood red sky era....and i just wish bono and co would f*ck off as i was a fan and now they're doing their best to rubbish the reputation they built up and making me regret ever liking them....same goes with the chillies.....remember when they were funky? i do but i'm starting to forget...u2/oasis/chillies....give up the ghost and R.I.P.

U2 is a GREAT band without doubt.
But the greatest bands are those that are changing the music history.

That's only my opinion of course but I guess many people will agree with me...

Marty I like Soilwork :50: but to be honest I like more their old songs like "sadistic lullabye' or 'wings of domain' than new songs

one band that never got the acclaim they should have were the betaband...split up cos they never shifted enough copies yet bands like embrace/sh!tpatrol/sh!tsailor sell bucket loads....not right at all up the Mogwai!

By and large the greatest bands do define an era but its not the only criteria needed

Lol! This argument always leads me to the same conclusion - there can be no right or wrong when the quality of something is based on someone's opinion!! The chillies are still pish tho.......

Anyway, whats with this Soilwork? Ive never heard of them. Ive got sneaky suspicion theres something going on behind the scenes here :fear:

Everyone has their own thing going on, which is cool. Personally i detest U2. Oasis are another that i just don't get. Its almost impossible to list my favourites but at the moment i'm listening to Ian Brown, Damien Marley, Johnny Cash, Luke Kelly, The Doors, The Velvet Underground, Primal Scream, Curtis Mayfield and Damien Dempsey. On the Roses, i saw Reni's band The Rub at King Tuts a few years back and then they disappeared, anyone know what happened?

Some quality artists there Joe, i like your style. Dunno about the rub, Reni's never been one for showing his cards to the media, so we can only assume he got fed up and just stopped playing. I heard a few live demo's of theirs and it sounded actually not bad, some of his guitar work was class, not bad for the best drummer on earth.

Dont quite know what to make of this, i can see him and Mani getting a few beers and talking pish, winding up the interviewer just for a giggle, they were always good at that lol

Definately Maybe was the classic album , but i reckon the sales were made by Whats the story. Whats the story is probably the album that most folk have at home, Credit to oasis for making such a wanted album, however although i am an oasis fan id have to say that the U2 have to be greatest band of the last 10-15 years, not because i am a U2 fan but compare the discography, combine it with sold out stadiums, chart hits, countries played in , Oasis ever sell out 60000 fans in Japan? and bono's effort to save the world and im afraid Oasis aint even in the same ballpark..

anybody fancy voting for depeche mode? above Oasis?
